After I got back home from the post office to mail off my December gift to Katie, I walk in the door and hubby hands me a package. I think "what? already?" (And yes, I did think in lower case, too!) I was excited! My December gift arrived!

But no. Turned out to be something else entirely that I've been expecting but had forgotten about.

A book from bookcrossing. Another member from Germany sent it to me. So that still has me excited, but still . . .

So. Given that this is a forum where readers hang out, how many of you also belong to bookcrossing?

I do! I'm not very active, but I do belong, and I have received and passed on a few books.

I'm in bookcrossing! I pased Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire onto Vána the first time we met in person. [Big Grin]

Ooo, I should go hunting for books. Now that I work downtown, I'm likely closer to more wild releases.

I'm a Bookcrosser too. And Xnera, I've been working in the Loop for 9 years now and still haven't managed a single wild catch.

Yeah, I looked at it today, and most of the books were released over two days ago, which means they have either been scooped up or thrown out by now. [Frown] I think if I want to go hunting for goodies, I'd have better luck with geocaching. But I need a GPS for that.

I totally got faked out today too. I went to the post office to check the mail and found nothing in my box but a key to a bigger box. The key you get when you have a package! Yay!

But, sadly, when I opened the bigger box, sitting in a pathetic little heap at the bottom of the cavern was our regular mail. There was just a bit too much of it to fit in our regular box, so they put a big rubber band around it all and TOTALLY TRICKED ME!

Meanies.

I'm a member at Bookcrossing, but I've only released one book. And that was several years ago.

xnera, letterboxing is basically a low-tech version of geocaching - no GPS required.

Miro, me too. I got discouraged when no one ever reported the book I released.
