I recently bought Nestle Hot Cocoa with marshmallows, which is more expensive than the cocoa without marshmallows, and for a good reason: the marshmallows are good!

In the past, they had two different packets per hot chocolate: one with cocoa in it, and the other, with marshmallows. Alas, they now have combined both marshmallows and cocoa into one packet! And for what reason? Do they not know that when you stir it in, the marshmallows melt into foam?

I'd like to let Nestle know that next time I'm interested in buying hot cocoa with marshmallows, I'll take my business elsewhere! [Mad]

You could just buy, you know, marshmallows, they sell those now.

*wonders where you've been* They've been putting the marshmallows right in with the cocoa for at least 15 years.

Best way to do it: get regular marshmallows and open the bag. Let them dry out into hard nuggets of sugar then close 'em back up. Use these with your cocoa. Much much better!

The marshmallows have always been mixed in to my recollection. Maybe what I was drinking wasn't Nestle?

Marshmallows in hot chocolate are just like cream and sugar in coffee: NASTY.

Yeah, kaioshin, what IS the world coming to?

Wouldn't it taste even better if you just used fresh ones every time you drank cocoa? I've never understood why some people prefer cocoa with prepackaged marshmellows. Different people, I guess.

Soft ones aren't as good as stale ones in cocoa. They become a gummy mess and stick to your upper lip. Not that I would know anything about that [Wink] , but sticky marshmallow is not as easy to get off your upper lip as you might think. By contrast, stale marshmallows build a nice sweet froth on top and don't stick to your upper lip. If there is anything left when the cocoa is gone, the leftover marshmallows make a nice crunchy after treat.

Oooh I like to make hot chocolate from milk + sugar + cocoa + real marshmallows. It's just better that way. Warm up the milk in a saucepan over low heat, put 1 heaping tablespoon of cocoa + 1 heaping tablespoon of sugar into a mug for each cup of hot chocolate you are making. Add just enough very hot water from the tap to stir up in the sugar+cocoa mixture until smooth. Then when the milk is hot enough that steam is starting to curl off the top (don't let it boil or it will be icky), stir in the sugary chocolatey liquid until it's all nice and well mixed. Serve in mugs. Top with marshmallows. This is way better than the packets! [Smile]

I just got pepermint hot chocolate for FREE at starbucks. They were doing some thing tonight where they were giving away their new holiday flavors for free. It was actually rather good...though not enough that I would pay starbucks prices for it...but enough that it was good to get it for free. [Smile]

I was near to addicted to the peppermint hot chocolate last year. And I got an email from Starbucks that morning about the event, it seems like it was all locations from 6-8 pm. I'd have been there myself but for the fact that I was at Midway Airport picking up a weekend guest.
