This is a thread for people who don't drive, to congratulate ourselves on being so health- or environmentally-conscious or for just being cheap.
Hooray for being cheap!
I don't drive a pickup truck. What don't you drive?

I am an environmentally friendly person, too. Legs are my main method of transportation. Cars are only things to be avoided on the various death-trap road crossings which I face on a regular basis. Cars don't slow down anymore. They just honk!
I am a student living in the centre of a large city, a car is not an option. Public transport provides anywhere I need to go and I once walked two hours to get to a Home Depot (Hardware), call that dedication, 'cause I do!
(I took the subway halfway back.)
However, something that would be cool to own would be a Smart Car, one of those itsy-bitsy little two people cars that are super-cool right now.
EDIT: I just want to point out that that time coming back from Home Depot was the only time I have used the Subway in all my time here. Friday on the way to the train station will be the second.

Doesn't that make you mad? I stood at a crosswalk at a busy street near my house today for three minutes and absolutely nobody would stop. One guy slowed down enough to yell something rude, but that was all.
It's a good thing I'm not more violent - I'd start slashing tires.

International student. That kind of says it all, I think. It means: no money, no car. I also have no driving licence, but that wouldn't stop me, after all, I'm quite good at 'Revolt'!

I don't drive the city bus that I take to school, which is quite lucky for the other passengers. I just know I'd try to reenact Speed.

I don't drive my parents' borrowed car here. Not if I want to live. Israeli drivers are AWFUL.

See, I am always looking at it from the POV of the driver who can't stand it when pedestrians take all day in the crosswalk when I need to turn left and there's no arrow. I am repeatedly forced to turn on reds because they seem to be delibrately playing in the crosswalk. I'm talking mainly about teenagers here. I will get about about ten feet away from them and rev my engine loudly if they don't get out of the way. I will not bother a pedestrian who is crossing normally, even if they seem to be slow at it. But at one intersection near an accelerated high school kids literally get in the crosswalk and then stop to talk to their friends. They never see me coming. You should see them jump and scatter. HEHEHE.
edit: I will not honk though. Honking is evil and people don't realize that by using it in non-emergency situations they are "crying wolf" for other people. Someday someone may honk in emergency and you won't even flinch. I've only honked once at some kid who drove his bike out in front of me on purpose because he didn't want to lose ground with his friend. I hope I scared him so bad that he never does that again. Dumb kid.

I hate people who cross diagonally. It happens more often in parking lots than on streets, but I've seen it there too.
Also, pedestrians who cross against the don't walk sign annoy me to no end. Just because they can't see a car coming doesn't mean that someone isn't going to want to turn left and miss his chance because they wanted to cross against the light.

Yeah, Dag. When I'm walking I never cross unless I have a "walk" sign and I'm probably more observant than those people. If you're going to cross against the lights you'd better be paying more attention.

I don't know if you guys remember, but I was in an accident the day before I left the country for the states. The reason: My dad stopped at a crosswalk to let the people cross the street, and someone jammed right into us from behind.
NOBODY stops at crosswalks here. You have to practically walk out into the middle of the road before people will decide it's a good idea to stop.

I have a friend who's fond of crossing "Ć la chinoise." (Don't ask me why he calls it that.) He does this in between intersections, waiting until a break in cars in one lane, walking to the center, and waiting there until there's a break in the other lane. I think it's nuts, but then again, I'm a chicken.
