Great news! Thanks so much for your prayers and well wishes! Sasha is feeling better enough that he is caring about his schoolwork! [Smile]

He's taking Spanish this year and really loves it. But now he needs a good Spanish-English dictionary. This time he needs one that translates in both directions. And now he is convinced that together I and Hatrack are the source of all knowledge about good books of every description. [Smile]

Thanks to Yozhik for giving her expert knowledge about the Russian English dictionary. Does anyone here have a preference for the best Spanish-English one? Again he wants one that's not too huge to carry around with him, but not too small to have all the words he needs.

This probably isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I'm a big fan of the online dictionary at wordreference.com - I use it for French, but it has Spanish, Italian, and German as well. It is better than even my printed dictionary for finding slang and idiomatic uses.

The Larousse dictionaries are widely regarded as the best language-to-language dictionaries.

I think mine was a Collins. My French one is definitely a Collins and it's brilliant. I can't find my little Spanish one at the moment, but I remember that it's orange and I'm pretty sure it's the same publisher as my French one. Hope that helps.
