Spiffy, but very long. I like the idea, but I doubt Tolkien's estate would go for it. Unless someone could convince Christopher Tolkien to write it. Hmmm...

Jude Law huh...Yeah...Not seeing that either. I don't think he has the capacity to play a villain.

I read the entire article, in all of its ultra-wordy glory, and didn't find a single reference to the only reason movies are made: MONEY. Explain to me how such a movie could be profitable, and I might be supportive of the concept. Otherwise, I'll sign off on The Hobbit , which is pretty much guaranteed to make a gazillion bucks.

Jude Law is far too blonde and blue-eyed (all over, he exudes blonde and blue-eyed) to play Sauron!

Agreed. But if art is the prevailing reason a movie is made, regardless of potential box-office success, then that movie will have miniscule budget. The film the author of this article describes is not a small-budget film. If it had a small budget, then it would suck, therefore making it a complete waste of time and money, artistically and commercially speaking.
