Some good news out of our house for a change...
One of Tony's latest books, The Girl in the Cave has just been picked up by a french publisher!
It will be published (in French) in France - first print run of 7000 copies and an initial sales target of 20 000.
This book has done quite well in Australia - 2000 copies sold in 2 months - so hopefully it will be equally (if not more) successful in France. Then UK, Europe, America - and THE WORLD! *evil chuckle*
No matter what happens, it is still very good news for us, and more specifically Tony's writing career.

Congratulations! That's such wonderful news! I'm so happy for you!
I didn't know Tony was a writer - I probably just don't pay enough attention. What genre? Oooh, you provided a link to the book - I'm gonna go read it now. . . Oooooh, I read it! Thanks for the link!
The cover illustration looks terrific, and so does what Tony wrote about it. If I had kidlets, I would sooooo get this. Are all of his books for kidlets?

Hey Quid - we're both thinking of you, and your adopted country, right now. And seriously contemplating quid-i-con.
Tony has written 5 books - 2 are for kidlets, 2 for junior high and one for senior high-ish age. He's in the middle of writing a trilogy (*ack*) for a cross-over market - that will be a while before it comes out though.
Hey, would you like a couple of his books? I could send them to you... Not chocolate I know, but english books might be hard(er) to come by in Sri Lanka.

Imogen! You are incredibly thoughtful and generous!
Yes, English books are more difficult to come across. I actually wrote an article on bookstores just a few weeks ago for the travel magazine here. So yes, if you want, I certainly will not argue with donations of books! I love books as much as I love chocolate, just in different ways. I think a love of books is a fairly universal quality of Hatrackers anyway, isn't it?
You can email me at laurie at laurieashton dot com.
Hatrack is the coolest! Imogen and Tony are the coolest!

However, given it's still an Australian publisher it's more expensive (and less available) than US-published books. We had had, however, an expression of interest for another book from a US publisher - so we can cross our fingers!
