Does anyone know how to convert a GPA on a 100 pt. scale to a 4.0 scale? My school only does it on a 100 pt. scale and I can't really apply to any scholarships without knowing my GPA on the 4.0 scale.

No - that's not right. I see with further browsing, that a 100 point scale is somewhat weighted (like if there are AP courses, etc.) I'll see if I can find a better link

Farmgirl, that site is good, but I need to know exactly which tenths I would fall between. The online scholarship apps generally ask are you between 4.0-3.9, 3.9-3.8, etc. all the way down, and I need to choose one. That site doesn't give me distictions on the 100 pt scale between the 3.3 B+, the 3.7 A- and the 4.0 A+

My school doesn't weight grades [Grumble] so that's kind of a moot point.

Well This One has more detail, but I still don't know if it exactly what you need.

That site is about Canadian schools, and I'm not sure it's the same scale. They have 4.0 going from 100 all the way down to 85, and I'm pretty sure that's not right.

have you talked to your councelor? That's the sort of thing they're paid for. Of course they might be too busy throwing basketballs in the trashcan or watching their fish die (just my experiences, most at my school were good)

I've thought about that, but it never seems to work out right for me. For one thing, anything that would be considered a "solid" A is a 4.0. I'm just below that.

Plus, I'm pretty sure all failure is a 0.0.

I wouldn't trust my guidance counselor for much of anything important. I tried asking her about listing things as Honors courses (our highest level is called Advanced) on college apps and she got really confused as to why our school doesn't have any. She also asked me if I was awarded National Merit Commended Student because of my SAT I scores, when as a guidance counselor she should know that they only look at PSATs for that. And it's not like she's new at this or anything.

I'd just use the letter grades, convert to the "0-4" scale, then average.

My problem is that I don't really know what the letter grades are equivalent to, either.

When calculating an "A", you don't count + or -. Anything that's between 90 and 100 is an "A", and counts as a 4, etc.

kq -- that's not true at some schools. At many, an A- is worth less than an A or A+.

At my school, it's 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 for F, D, C, B, or A, respectively.

Then you add or subtract 0.3 for a plus or minus.
