Does anyone know some good, relaible world news sites? Preferably those with varied opinions. I find I'm uninformed on too many things and want to remedy that.

Actually, I've joined Washington Post for daily news e-mails (clickable links to the full story), and CNN news alerts (also with clickable links to full story).
I listen to NPR on the radio.
No TV news. But then, every once in awhile, I'll go to one of their websites (well...like CNN or CBS or ABC).

When I read it, I found The Economist generally hada wide range of opinion from both sides of the aisle and definitely did the best job of presenting world news that was both interesting and important. For example, they caught on to the Taliban forcing Hindus to wear special indentifying marks while it received no coverage at all from major news sources.

Teshi, have you read the interview with Terry Jones over on Salon.com? He has some interesting things to say about the way the BBC presents its news (although he may or may not have been talking about their online news).
Generally, though, the BBC News site is my first stop for world news.
Someone recently pointed me toward The Christian Science Monitor (maybe even someone here--I can't remember who it was), and it seems like a fairly good news source.

I'll second the Economist (www.economist.com) for interesting, good reporting of world news. I also like its stuff on the US; since it's a British-based magazine, it has a certain detachment and gentle irony that I find refreshing.
Some of their articles cost money, but if anyone would like to use my login to access those articles, you're welcome to it, provided you don't change anything (since I'm actually freeloading off of my school's print subscription, it's only fair ). The difference between BBC and The Economist is that even though they are both British, the former is unabashedly liberal, while the latter provides insight from both sides.
