mt:"I read somewhere that this is the most depressing day of the year because by now we have gotten all our credit card bills from Christmas. Or more people have low seratonin related disorders due to the dark overproducing melatonin(depression, OCD, PTSD and other anxiety disorders). "
fg:"Yes - my sister told me that yesterday as well - -that January 25th was supposed to be documented as "the most depressing" day of the year (due to statistical evidence, I suppose). Due to post-holiday let-down, S.A.D., etc. I had never heard that before. "
This exchange was in an unlikely place so I thought I'd give it its own thread. Have others heard this? Who has heard of it before this year?

Yes. It was done by a British researcher who added up factors such as sunlight, amount of time between holidays, credit card debt, failed new years resolutions, weight gain, etc, and noted Monday, Jan. 24th as the most depressing day of the year. Hang on while I find a link...

Ah yes, failed new years resolutions. Next year I am really not making any. I knew I shouldn't this year, but then I gave in to peer pressure. At least I didn't gain weight over the holidays this time.

Hmm, actually yesterday was pretty cheerful for me. (not to be a wet blanket on the depressing mood.) I got the preliminary stuff entered into Turbo Tax and started playing with the numbers for how we split our home ownership deductions and found out we will be getting $400 more if we give the entirety of the deuctions to Steve than if we split them or give them all to me. And that even if we do this, I won't end up owing the $150ish that I thought I would owe, but will instead get $46 back. But then I'm probably nuts in actually being happy about getting the W-2s so that I can start doing taxes. Other people probably view that as a downer and that probably contributes to the general malaise.
