I'm just replacing my Powerbook G4 battery with a new one.

It's from the Titanium series and is a lithium-ion rechargeable.

What's the deal with the first charge these days? Do I need to do a really long first charge? If the 'book spends its days mostly attached to power, is this a problem for the battery?

Its pretty much always best to charge it all the way up, then run it all the way down, twice. After that use however.
