Various public radio stations have online streams that allow listeners to keep up with their favorite stations outside the broadcast range. Some brilliant person collected all of those streams and linked to them from one site. As if that were not brilliant enough, she (or he) created a database of what was on when and made it searchable by "what's on now" "program name" "category" and everything anyone could ever find useful. I speak, of course, of www.publicradiofan.com which has become very bad for my academic career. Just to get started, here are a couple of great parts to start out with.

Selected Shorts
BBC 7 (Comedy and Drama) - I just finished listening to a very strange and poignant radio play called "Sophie" on this one.
Thistle and the Shamrock - Great Celtic music

Honestly, though, this site has public radio from NPR, BBC, CBC, and even nations like Bahrain and Croatia (which you can find in the "stations by location" listing.

*is listening to "radio Tunisia"*

What are they saying? I don't know. But it's really interesting to listen to other languages, sometimes. [Big Grin]
