Is there any reason for me not to give my therapist a gift? I mean, are there ethics that would prevent her from accepting one?
My next appointment will be the last one before she is off on maternity leave and I'd really like to give her a nice baby gift.

I really don't think she would mind, but I'm wondering if there might be a policy there at the center that might prohibit her from accepting gifts. I'd hate to show up with one and put her in the uncomfortable situation of having to tell me she can't accept it.

Yeah, that's what I was saying about calling ahead. Is there a secretary there? I bet he or she would know the policy, or could find out.

Most therapists I know will accept a card and some home-made cookies or something, but not a gift, especially one that cost more than $10 or so.
