This is one of those I sent you an email threads. If you want me to delete it, I will after I know that you've seen it. If not I'll just let it fade into oblivion.

I've been thinking about the question I asked in the health care crisis thread and wanted to get your opinion. I didn't want to completely derail the thread with my complaining, so I decided to email you with some questions.

I still owe you a response to the last email, which is awfully ironic, given the topic. [Smile]

But send away! I'll do my best.

Nice to see you posting more here at Hatrack, Derrell.

CT, is your work email address the best means of reaching you? Can you access it from home? I'm just curious because I wouldn't want you to be sitting at work replying to one of my emails when it's time to go home.

Have a nice evening. [Wave]

I can access my work email from home and at work, but I'm spending time with my husband right now. [Smile] I do appreciate, the consideration, though.

I'll try to be better about repsonding quickly.

You're quite welcome. You mean to say that spending time with your husband is more important than answering an email from some guy you've never met.? I'm shocked [Eek!] [Wink] Just kidding.

I'll put the edit here.

[You ask serious, hard, thoughtful questions, Derrell. They aren't questions with easy answers. That often mean they are the most important questions, but they are the kind you have to chew on for awhile. *thoughtful]

You are important, too, as a friend. If you were a less thoughtful questioner, then your emails would be easy to answer! [Smile]

Are you going to let her get away with that? [Evil]

Does that mean you're working on a reply? *does happy dance*

They are tough questions, but I figured that if anyone could answer them, it would be the wise ClaudiaTherese.

[Hail] CT The wisest of the wise.

Kwea: I am also a perfectionist, which is a short way of saying I-procrastinate-because-not-doing-it-perfectly-is-a-reason-not-to-do-it & this-is-a-character-flaw-which-needs-addressing,-I-know.

Seriously. It's true. [Smile] And Derrell has been most patient with my dawdling.

Edit:
*laughing
No, I can't solve the problems you puzzle over. Hopefully I can send something to think about. (If I could solve them, I would be much more important than I am.)

Kwea, I wouldn't do anything to anger the great sage, ClaudiaTherese. I'll continue to bow at her feet, waiting for answer. [Hail] CT

After all, it took, what, 10,000 years for a computer to come up with the answer to life, the universe and everything.

(((Ryuko))) I'd reply if you ever emailed me. I don't what reason you would have to email me, but If you did, I'd reply.

I'm sure CT will email you when she sees this.

We could always talk about Japan. It's one place I'd love to visit, especially the Studio Ghibli museum.

Ryuko, I honestly don't remember a message from you. It is quite possible I read it and forgot, or that it got automatically (and erroneously) sent to my spambox, or it just may be that I didn't see it. So much travels through my inbox every day, most of it work-related, that I let things slip despite my best efforts.

This is the record of my latest 12 hour strech of incoming messages:

Sara, I need some help with... 2/2/05 6:02 AM

I know for sure that a lot of people have much more busy mailboxes, but I'm finding myself pretty swamped and scrambling to keep up. Mistakes happen. I'm sorry about that, really, I am.

There were also periods of time where I was letting things slide especially far. I just finished residency with its grueling work hours this past July, and then I went through a period of depression when I was off Prozac. It really through me for a loop, and I got so far behind in work matters that it became a serious problem for me and my supervisor.

*grin
Prozac keeps my head together, that's for sure.

Anyway, you are welcome to try again. I guess I'm going into so much detai because I don't want you to feel the slight was personal. It was definitely unintended.

On the other hand, I'm finding myself behind in work from chatting on Hatrack today, and I think it's time for a bit of a hiatus while I catch up on things. So I'll probably be taking my address down from my profile in the next day or two and laying low for awhile as I catch up on things. I've been wanting to email Derrell, Tatiana, Noemon, and Kayla, but it keeps getting placed on my back burner. That's my own fault and my own responsibility.

I'll work on doing better. I also haven't been good about just frankly saying "I don't know" in response to some queries -- and that's just hubris. Again, I'll work on it. I'm sure everyone would rather hear an acknowledgement of being stumped rather than just silence. It sure beats feeling ignored, eh? That's just plain rudeness on my part. I'll work on that, too.

[Smile]

Don't worry about it, it was mostly just a joke. You emailed me out of the blue quite a while ago, and then didn't really reply to my replies. I was a little sad then, but now I've pretty much gotten over it. [Smile] I don't even remember what we were chatting about.

Good luck with your work!

I bet I was majorly down in the dumps or something. Again, sorry. But thank you so much for understanding.

I hope it worked out okay for you, whatever it was.

[Eek, this sounds so callous. I'm honestly trying to scrape my brain for the memory, and I can't dredge it up at all. That makes it a likely sleep-deprivation or depression time. *wince

Thanks for the good wishes. Work is getting straightened out again, thank goodness.]

Oh, sure!

I finally just sent the procrastination one. Whew! [Wink] I need to give myself a little piece of chocolate as a treat.

Take care, Derrell. I'll keep mulling over it and will send you another note if I think of any other suggestions.

have a good night!

I've switched over to a joint account with Dave for most of my Hatrack-related personal email, Derrell. This way, when I am not up to speed, maybe Dave can help people with questions.

Thanks for your understanding. I'm not going to respond to your last email because I'm off to work now, but I hope things work out for you.

I'll see you around Hatrack when I get back. [Wave]
