I'm going to be graduating from UofA in May and I'm not sure how to handle the inviting. All I know is that I want to start doing it soon to give people plenty of time to make arrangements.

Should I ask friends and family I don't expect to come or just ones I'm sure would come?

Should I use paper invitations or would calling/e-mailing be okay? And if I should do paper invitations, are homemade invitations okay or should I buy some through a company?

Any help would be appreciated. [Smile]

Arizona. But that's a minor detail. [Razz]

(anxiously awaits to hear what others answer, because my son graduates next year and I will have to know how to help him with this...)

There aren’t any limitations on the number of people that can come to graduation? I know mine had tickets and we were limited to 4 people.

No, there aren't limits on guests or tickets for your guests. There are going to be two ceremonies and both will be in McKale Center, which holds over 14,000 people.

I sent invites to my parents, aunts, uncles and a two special mentors in my life. I just wanted to make sure they knew that I finally did it.

If you send them invitations, even if they can't come, they may send you a present [Big Grin] (not that this should be expected, but it does happen)

I plan on sending announcements instead of invitations. My extended family isn't exactly what one might call "close," let alone "wishing to come see me succeed."

But the announcements will be the paper kind. The pretty ones they sell to us graduating peoples at ridiculous prices.

I would send invitations, or at least announcements, to everyone you would like to come, even if they can't. Home-made should be fine, but paper is a nice keepsake for them. If you know they'd like to come, and you want them to, but you know it would be a financial strain on them, send an invitation with a note saying that you understand they probably won't be able to make it, but you know they'll be there in spirit, and that they're so important to you, you didn't want to leave them out. Or just go the announcement route.
