Actually not a holiday but a working holiday. If anyone is thinking of coming over this way and wants work to fund the next part of their trip; now is the time to do it. Over the next few months the kiwifruit industry requires 18,000 workers. Here in the Kiwifruit capital we have around 600 (give or take) unemployed people. There is a wee bit of a shortfall. [Frown] Obviously the shortfall isn't as bad as they are suggesting because there are a lot of people who aren't registered as unemployed, many people work double shifts but their job is counted twice etc but there is a shortfall.

So any interest?

I was supposed to go back to NZ in February, but I ultimately had to cancel my plans. I'm aiming for this December now, but I think I'll be more interested in hiking than in picking kiwifruit while I'm there [Razz]

Can't say that I blame you. Picking and packing is boring work. But Hey it's got to be done. [Smile]

Yeah.

I guess that's what NZ gets for having such a low unemployment rate. Serves you right! [Wink]

Sounds like fun. I don't remember Te Puke. Whereabouts is it?

Te Puke is in The Bay of Plenty. In the North Island between Tauranga and Rotorua. Very near the coast. Being only a few minutes from two centres that specialise in tourist attractions we're sort of a blink and you'll miss it sort of place.
