The UK version of the last one was a lot less indicative of the actual plot of the book. It showed the fountain in the ministry and a phoenix...and that's about it.
The US version usually crams as much as possible from the plot onto the actual cover and it's really cool to try to figure out what's happening by just looking at it. I wish we could see the whole jacket...it's usually so detailed and...spoilery.

Well, I'm thinking that both pictures with Harry and Dumbledore depict scenes in the book.
Penseive- seems like Dumbledore is allowing Harry to look in it this time, like there's some things he needs to see. Maybe Harry is starting to use it himself (to put memories aside etc.)

Man, the Dumbledore of the UK version sure has some righteous anger going on...
and Narnia's right, there is a ton of information on, say, the cover of GoF. It shows Fleur Delacour, Cedric, Krum, Death Eaters, the giant spider, the Goblet, the dragon's egg, and Snuffles. Of course, you never realize what exactly you're looking at until you read the book, which makes it even better.

Wow, Harry is really starting to look old. I mean, compared to his 11-year-old self in the first book. I like the combination of green and purple on the US version. I didn't particularly care for the monochromatic blue of book five.

I am really disappointed with th ;ast book, and ths one. they are totally throwing off the color scheme on my shelf. The first four books had a gentle gradation of color, then BLUE, and now GREEN.

I am so looking forward to this book, but looking at my schedule, it'll come out the night before the 4-H cat show that i have to be awake by 6am for, hmm I guess they get to see me with bags under my eyes.

They are looking at the memories of Snape because Snape is the half blood prince. Snape will be the Golem figure that can never escape the dark arts or the evil influence, and Harry and Dumbledore try to save him. Dumbledore gets killed by Snape, but Snape feels bad and does not interfere with Harry Killing Voldemort. Harry is high on his power and he murders (strikes him down with all of his hatred) Snape and the journey to the dark side of the force is completed.
Harry squares off against Ron and Hermoine, but Hagdrid sits on Harry. Harry is dead, Ron and Hermoine get married. The giants come and the muggles become aware of the magic world. The British Government's Special Forces assault Hogwarts and Hermoine is torn. Ron's family does not know what to do. The muggles take over the magical world and makes all the magical community get registered and identified.
Meanwhile Lupin steals Hagrids motorcycle and drive off by himself. He meets up with Madame Maxime and tries to woo her from Hagrid. There is some sexual tension that amounts to nothing.
Voldemort rises again and rescues the wizard community and kills all the muggles, Harry is reborn and kills Voldemort. For the last 30 pages, Harry has to run from his evil shadow, but at the very end, he confronts his dark self and balance is restored.

The seventh book will be a prequel with an annoying house elf who is Dobbie's father who thinks he is a wizard because he'za can speaks. He will successfully fight all the death-eaters by accidentally shooting them with his wand, but in the end, Voldemorts rise in power will be a result of his stupid actions.
The rest of the book will revolve around Harry's parents relentless taunting of Snape. We will see Harry's parents fall in love, and we will learn more empathy for Snape.

I love UK adult cover with old battered Potion book too. I wonder if Snape has a larger (bigger) role in this book? No hints for a new defense against the Dark Arts teacher though.

Anna, have you seen that movie with Rickman and Emma Thompson? Rats, whatsitsname. . . he's a dead cellist, haunts her with all his dead musician friends. . .
Kind of dull, really. But Rickman was great in Galaxy Quest.

What I like about Snape is despite the fact that all the good guys hated him, he's still one of them. James Potter humiliated him in front of a whole group of people pretty much every day, but he still joined the good guys against the dark side as a spy at a great personal risk to himself. In fact, I have a theory that he was the one who warned Dumbledore that Voldermort was going after James and Lily. He's not much different from Harry in a way. He seems to be poor, gets picked on all the time. No wonder he got so obsessed with the dark arts. It's cool how JK Rowling showed that even good guys can be bad sometimes and treat other people like crap even if they are on the right side. I lovet hat kind of balance.

I am pretty sure we have to go with Hagrid as the Half Blood Prince, though I think it would be cool if it were some real royal that turned up! I know that JKR has mentioned that there is more to a couple of the characters we have seen on the edges of things then we know, like Seamus.
For the Defence agianst the dark arts I would like to see Dumbeldore take it himself, or even Snape finally. It could even be Harry!
The things I hope to see, Ron and Hermoine sneaking off to kiss and canoodle (finally!) Harry and Ginny showing some attraction. Harry learning to Apartate, and some serious Fred and George action! Rumor has someone dying, and that is pretty brutal after the loss of Sirius in the last book and Cedric in the one before, so I hope it is nobody I care for. Last I hope that Nevile comes up with a cure for his parents, maybe a combination of magic plants and potions, though he hates and fears Snape enough to make that hard to swallow.
I also hope the PX has copies in early, I may have to wait for an extra month, and I would hate that!

Umbridge was so evil she made me ill, the way she tortured Harry for speaking the truth was so far beyond the pale that I was sad she did not die! There is no justice when Sirius is dead that woman still draws breath!
Hey maybe that Centaur will take the DatDA class after all won't Trelawney be coming back?

Voldemort has to be related to Harry. I was just thinking about a quote from J.K. Rowling. I will paraphrase. When everyone was asking for clues to who might be the Hlf-Blood prince, she responded with, "You are asking the wrong questions. The real question no-one has asked is why [didn't] Voldemort die when we attacked Harry.
This must be tied to the Half-Blood Prince. I am not sure how, but I was thinking, since Harry's mom used her blood to protect family, maybe the same protection prevented Voldemort from dying.

I like Snape because he has so many layers to him. He's good, but he's also bad, but he saved Harry's life, but he's contemptable...
It's also my pet theory that as big an a-hole that he is, and as badly as he treats his non-slytherin students, I think he's a really good potions teacher.
