In the past few months, while the braodcasts and articles on bombings and raids have continued consistently, there has been less and less news on individual soldiers or even the conditions of the deployed as a whole.

This is just a little reminder that our men and women are still out there and are as needful as ever of our support. Many have not seen their families in months and many others do not know when they will next have that opportunity.

Please let them know that you care. Not just about the generals and the admirals or the heros or the fallen, but about the infantryman, the sailor, and the pilot - the soldier who makes sacrifices every day so that we don't have to.

Emotional support to our servicemen and women may be sent in the form of a letter from this website, aka Operation Dear Abby.

Information on support in the form of donations - either of computers or money - may be found by going here, to the United Service Organization's website and then clicking the link to Programs and Services. You can even choose whether your donations will go towards providing for carepackages, phonecards, or make a general donation towards functions sponsored by the USO. If someone is able to open up a Paypal account, perhaps donations could even be made there first and then given in one larger gift to the USO from Hatrack as whole?

Again, just a reminder, but I hope that most of you will take advantage of at least the first option of sendinga letter. As a soldier's fiancee myself, I cannot possibly tell you enough how much your support would mean to them, or thank you enough for giving it [Smile] .

Edit to fix the USO link.

Pixie, thank you so much for posting this. My cousin is returning home this week after a 13 month deployment in Iraq. He's safe and in one piece, but my uncle said that my cousin is very skittish of loud noises (such as slamming doors) and that quick movements startle him easily. I think this more than anything really brought home to me what our troops are going through. [Frown]
