Seriously. It feels like this search engine was designed just for me, just today, as I try to finish up a researched speech.
Ironically, my speech is a persuasive one, wherein I try to convince people that electronic texts will never completely replace the printed, bound book.
I agree that Google Scholar is great, isn't it? My brother was slightly put out that a search on his name didn't turn up any of his articles.

Seriously, I have found Google scholar to be enormously useful for finding references that I would never have been able to track down on my own, even in a field that I know (relatively) well.
I don't find it particularly useful for in-depth searches (e.g., comparing my ideas on a topic to someone else's), but for little references (like who coined the term "willful suspension of disbelief" and in what context), it's indispensable.
Hurrah for Google scholar!

Yah. All I needed was a good source to quote on the frequency of complaints of eye strain from viewing electronic text and I was able to get it right away.

Of course, eye strain complaints will probaby (and are probably) go down with the introduction of more LCD monitors and laptops, which are known to have much less eyestrain than a regular CRT
