Every time I shut down the computer, something called "ShellConHiddenWindow" shuts down. I've run Spybot, Adaware, Norton, and done Symantec's online check. None of them find it. I can't find it, either. How do I get rid of it? *is clueless*

Do you have Musicmatch Jukebox on your system?

Tick beat me to it - sounds like it's a Music Jukebox issue.

Huh. But that came installed on our comp. and it's only just started showing. [Dont Know]

Okay. Since that's our MP3 player, I guess I'll just ignore it. But does anyone have any idea what exactly it does, or why they gave it such an awful name?

Presumeably it references the program's ability to run "underneath" active windows so you can listen to tunes while working, surfing or posting.

I started getting that when I upgraded to MusicMatch 10. (I've had MMJB since version 5, I'm a perpetual license customer) I'm still trying to figure out how to make it go away.

edit: one of the links from that Google search (and i can't get back to it now for some dumb reason) said to go into MSConfig, startup tab, and disable the two MusicMatch entries there: mimboot and mmtask. Then restart your computer and it "should" make it go away. I remember doing this before, it worked for a while. When i went into MSConfig now, mimboot was reactivated. I haven't rebooted since disabling that a second time, we'll see what happens...

I'd suggest uninstalling the entire program and then re-installing the new and improved version.

The new and improved version is what seems to have done it. GS is right, this only happened with the latest update.

Trevor, I did that too, it's something screwy in the code for version 10. I'd downgrade back to 9, but 9 won't support the portable device manager connection to my Dell DJ.

Which suggests the upgrade is conflicting with the existing program.

Instead of improving the core program via upgrades, download a fresh install of the new program.

Or I may be babbling.

Edit: Or ignore me since Goody tried and it doesn't seem to have made any difference. [Big Grin]

MMJB10 must be conflicting with something, though, because I don't get that error on my work computer, which is also WinXP. I've got Home edition here and Professional at the office, so that's a possibility. I just don't have the energy to try and sort it out, I think that should be MMJB's job [Roll Eyes]

You could always quit using lousy products when Winamp and iTunes exist.

Actually, I do have iTunes here as well, but it won't interface with my MP3 player. Besides, I've been using MusicMatch since about 1999 and this is the first version I've had any problems with. For me, the ShellIcon thing is a small inconvenience on shutdown only, so I'm not heavily concerned about it any more.

By the way, I seem to have lied about my work computer... I was listening to MMJB radio yesterday at work, and when I logged off the network, guess what decided to make an appearance? You got it! So I'm going to go into msconfig today before I go home (I hope, some admin functions are locked out on me) and see if I can zap those two programs.
