Quick recap - I haven't been happy at my church in a long while but my husband has friends and my kids have friends and we were in the midst of a pastor search and hubby wanted to stay and see what happened when new guy was hired. There are doctrinal issues, and all kinds of craziness.

Okay, we got more information on the pastoral candidate, we were allowed to read all the materials he sent and read transcripts of the interview, and read his personal belief statement and his vision for the church, etc.

It's time to go.

This guy is all but hired, having him come in next month is just a rubber stamp - the elders have already approved his hire and he's already accepted the offer, pending the vote of the congregation. So, we can stay and vote against him and cause uproar and strife, or we can move along.

After much discussion we've decided to go visit the church we first belonged to after we got married. We loved it there, only left because we moved so far away (it's about a 35 minute drive) But, we've decided that 35 minutes is not too long to drive to get to a church we know will be a good place for our children. Natalie was baptized there, they still have the same pastor we knew, and we know we line up with them doctrinally. We looked over the list of Sunday School classes and recognized some names, people we remember and know are teaching some of the classes.

The reason I put "I think" in the title is I've thought we made the decision to leave before, and we haven't - so who knows? Personally, I'm thrilled. Going back to this church is something that has crossed our minds before, and we usually said things like "I wish we could find a church like Covenant out here." I think we both know we aren't going to find a duplicate of Covenant closer to home, we may as well go back to Covenant.

Stay tuned....I'll let you know when it's all final and said and done.

I'm glad to hear that you won't have to be waiting in limbo anymore and can go somewhere you feel you belong. [Smile]

It sounds like you've done your due diligence. Do you have a pretty fuel efficient car? Maybe you could do the biodiesel thing.
