I didn't want. Never enabled. Got a history matching the first letters typed anyways. And was seriously annoyed until I figured out how to turn off the listing of previously searched keywords by mucking about in my browser settings.

Funny story about that...

Someone at Hatrack a couple years back proposed the brilliant plan of having a Hatrack bikini contest. Just to be funny (and I am funny), I posted a link to a picture of a bikini-clad Shakira, claiming that I was clearly the winner.

A few months later, my friend was using my computer and typed a Google search that started with the letter S. The computer helpfully suggested - "Shakira bikini?" I still don't know whether or not she bought my hasty explanation.

Yeah. Thanks a lot technoglogy.

Sounds like a browser issue, rather than anything on Google's end. Are you using Firefox, perchance? That's the one browser I've tried that does that sort of thing by default...
