I spent a great deal of this weekend decompressing from my stressfull week last week by watching Murphy Brown season one. I had forgotten just how much I loved that show. I suspect a great deal of my mental image of a smart, cool adult woman came from Murphy Brown. That may explain some things. [Razz]

Anyway, I also loved the music, and my sad, sad music collection has no Motown. I want to fix this. I don't have an iPod yet, and I don't have a computer or internet connection at home, so it's CDs for me. I'd rather just buy one or two collections, but I'm having a hard time finding one that covers everything.

I KNOW that out there, somewhere, there is a music collection for the MoTown 25th anniversary. My dad had it on cassete tape, and it covered at least six tapes. I'd love to have that version on CD, but I can't find it and I can't remember the name. [Frown] I know the label is blue, but that's about all.

I love Motown music. The first concert I ever went to was The Tempataions when I was six. I also served my mission in Detroit, although Motown music was long gone. It was still a thrill, though - "Motown!" was the first thought that popped into my head when I got my call.

I think it's fun because it's so singable. It's still wonderful music.

OK, Kat, I am using a few minutes of my alotted(allotted?) thirty to say, if they are considered Motown, that The Commodores sing some of my all time favorite music.

I believe they are considered Motown.

Also, the Chi-Lites.

Yes, you absolutely must see "Standing in the Shadows of Motown". It's phenomenal, and I saw it in the 5.50 bin at Wal-mart in Louisiana.

As far as a Motown Collection, I haven't found a box set with all of the artists, but I have been collecting greatest hits albums, one at a time for a year or two.

Of course, start with the Temps, then Marvin Gaye, then Smokey and the Miracles, then the Supremes, then the Four Tops.

Or, you could try Motown: The Classic Years. It's a two disc set with a pretty good mixture. However, just two discs leaves a ton of stuff out.
Just search amazon.com for it.

Done. Motown: The Classic Years. Looking at the sleeve, I think that's even the edition I remember having on tape as a kid. Thanks - you're a hero. [Smile] [Smile]
