We're talking beyond the obvious "baby" or "honey." I only have one that I use for Mr. Opera, and it's normally used when I'm asking him to do a task or when he's done something I think is especially clever. I call him "Mr. Magic." Our last name begins similarly, and it always makes both of us laugh.

I misread this and thought you were asking for pet names, i.e. Rover or Fido. I was all prepared with my dog's name (Gopher).

My husband almost never uses pet names for me when we're in public, but he has a lot of them. Most of them involve the word "bear" or sometimes Ursa, if he's being obscure. Whatever gooes with it usually has to do with the context. Like, I might be "GrouchyBear" in the morning, or "pert bear" when I get out of the shower.
He also used to call me "Scooter" a lot. It goes back to college when our Lit classes had to meet in the science building. The science people didn't like us moving the seats into circles, and such. The profff would always tell us to pick up the chairs, not to 'scoot' them. I was carrying mine and stumbled, pushing it down and foreward and falling on it. Made quite a noise and quite a mark. Thus was born, "Scooter Bear" who later became "scooter".
He used to always introduce me to people as, "My young wife, Olivia." Not so much anymore. Due to the vagueries of how we have aged, people started thinking he was older than me and being crass, even though I'm really a year and 5 months older than he is.

In an odd evolution, calling our daughter-to-be "pumpkin" and each other "sweet pie" led to the twisted endearment "Pumpkin Poo Pie". Don't ask where the Poo came from.

Nurmurt is one of the most entertaining sounds to make that I know. I say it once, then have to say it four more times before I can finish the sentence. It has to do with the shape of the mouth, I think.

I call my husband Magic Man, and he sometimes calls me Lemur Lady. The stories behind them are far too long and tedious to go into, but hey, at least we each have a cute alliterative nickname.

My wife calls me by a lot of interesting pet names.
If you consider pet names to be terms and language that a sailor would refrain from using out of fear their tongue would melt.
And I do consider them pet names, as I consider the screaching of her high volumed voice to be that of angels singing.
Its the only way I keep my sanity. hhehehehehehehehehehe
(ps, for those of you who don't know--the above was a joke. My wife does not swear at me. She hits me over the head with a cast iron skillet, but I'm begining to like that sound so don't worry about it)

Hey - I'm open to pet's names as well. For example, not too many people know that in the privacy of our own home our dog Max is oft referred to as "Barkington Howlington the Third."

Not so much a pet name, but a friend of mine in college amassed quite a lengthy nickname (courtesy of another friend of ours): Herr Baron Professor Doctor Thrilliam J. von Brown III, Esq., Defender of the Realm of Huge and Scourge of Its Seven Seas.
PS: Just in case there was any doubt, the only resemblance that this bore to his actual name was that both of them contained letters of the alphabet.

I used to babysit for a baby way back in the day. Their labrador/mutt's name was "Honky."
Yep, he got out one day. Yep, I walked up and down the subdivision calling "Honky, Honky, c'mere Honky," trailing a couple of kids with me.
