Scroll down to the top ten if it's April 25th. If it's not April 25th, then we've probably been replaced by now.

But anyway ... my game has finally been announced, and apparently, we're getting a lot of attention! The Sims 2 on PSP is due out this holiday season. You all must buy it. [Uses secret mind control powers on everyone.]

When you say "my" game, are you saying your one of the game developers?

As a recovering Simcity 2000 addcit I refuse to play any game with sim in the title. It's bad enough that I'm a member of hatrack. I'm not sure my system could handle two addictions....

I will buy it.

I have no PSP and no plans to buy one, but for some strange reason I am compelled to buy the game.

Congratz.

For the PSP version, or in general?

[for those who don't know, this is Puppy's other name]

Just the PSP version. The developer is incorrectly listed as "Maxis". I actually work for Amaze Entertainment, whose subsidiary Griptonite has already been making all the Sims handheld games for years.

This is my first Sims title, and my first gig as a lead designer on a large team, though managing other designers isn't one of my responsibilities. There's me doing the top-level design stuff, story-writing, etc, and a team of scripters under the supervision of a producer, who implement it, often making up the details as they go. And they're coming up with some pretty cool-looking stuff, too. Not sure exactly what I can reveal, but it's looking good so far.

Then you've got the other disciplines — art, animation, programming, sound, test — I just try to stay out of their way [Smile]

I'm very interested to see how this turns out. I'm liking the psp and I'm really interested in how some of the games are being designed. It's really the first system (that I can think of) that's so powerful, yet only has a couple of buttons for the controls. Well, I guess the dreamcast was close and had about the same ammount of buttons, but it's just really interesting to see what developers can come up with without the dual analogs in 3d games and such. [Dont Know]

And I'll probably be buying it. Haven't played the sims 2 yet so I'll wait for the psp version. [Smile]

So I have to buy a PSP to play it? What about a regular computer version? (I haven't followed this, so it may already be out - I don't know. I have the original SIMS game..)

The PC Sims2 game has been out for months. Make sure you check the requirements before you buy it -- many home computers aren't up to snuff.

That's cool, Geoff. That's got to be a challenging design, especially control-wise.

You going to be at E3? I don't have to work the floor (yay!) but I do get to go for a day if I want. I'm thinking Thursday. If you do go, are you working the floor or are you in meetings the whole time? It'd be nice to meet you.

congrats!

lol, my roommate just bought a PSP yesterday. [Smile]

Though, he doesn't have any games for it yet. I hope it sells well, and you get plently of other big jobs.

Wow, you get to go to E3? Are you a reporter/game reviewer?

Geoff, we'd love to see you again if you're gonna be out here. Let us know what your schedule is -- maybe we can do dinner again.

It's not too hard to get into E3 even if you're not directly involved in the gaming industry. I hear all you need is a business license and some game reviews or something. They don't really check over the admissions too hard.

I wish I was going to E3 this year, but I just can't make it. I think I'll probably end up going once every couple of years or so. I loved it last year. [Smile]

Mine's above the minimum requirments and it still ran so poorly that I was prevented from becoming a total addict.

Hmm...I did so enjoy the single character GBA version of TheSims. Between Sims2 and Lumines, maybe I can talk myself into a PSP. Or maybe I can suggest it heavily around my birthday.

Associate producer; I work for "a major publisher and developer," as they say. I won't say which one so I don't have to watch my words quite so carefully.

One thing to note is that this is a business conference. I realize it's not too hard to game the system and get in, but if too many people do it then it wll get harder. It's all well and good to see the latest stuff, but if you are taking time away from legitimate business getting done, people may not like that.

I say this because I spent 15 minutes explaining something to someone once, only to discover that he was some guy with a fake website, and all the while I had a Japanese retail exec waiting to see the product in action. I was not pleased.

EA is still deciding if they want me on the floor.

I hope not, though. I intend to spend the bulk of my time gawking in Remedy's booth. Or following BioWare people around until I get a glimpse of Dragon Age. Or pwn1ng f00lz in STALKER and [/i]Battlefield 2[/i].

Oh, and ... um ... doing "business" [Smile]

[still a fanboy at heart]

Yeah, I3, we'll have to look each other up. Let's talk, closer to the time. Get cell numbers.
