I took the multiple choice portion of my English comps (graduation exam) last month and was certain I'd done horribly. The test was the most difficult I'd ever taken, and it seemed like I'd never even heard of half the stuff on it. After being depressed that evening over how badly I'd done, I consoled myself with the fact that I'd be able to re-take it.
I just heard from my prof, and I got a B+!!!!! Paint me excited.

Not to break the general air of congratulations, or anything, but what's so great about a B+? Pretty mediocre sort of mark. I mean, if you were expecting a fail, or something, sure, but let's not go overboard.

King of Men, let me have some fun and sink down to your level. My GPA as a senior is 3.95. When I started college I was a 26 year-old single mom. So yeah, jerkwad, I'm damn proud of my B+ and everything else I've accomplished.

Well, I'm sorry, but a B+ just doesn't seem to me like something to jump and shout about. My worst grade (in graduate courses; I was in Norway for undergraduate, where the grading system is a bit different) is a B+, as it happens. I'm not proud of it, and would retake that course if it wasn't so horrible. Thermodynamics using Landau & Lifschitz, ick.
I wasn't trying to be nasty, I just felt that all these Wave smileys were the merest touch out of proportion to the actual accomplishment.
And really, multiple choice doesn't belong at college level anyway, though I grant this has nothing to do with whether SO did well or not.

Verily, I would agree with you, except that I seem to recall this arrogant eemo crowing about his own success not too long ago, and everyone was supportive. It's too bad he can't seem to pull his head out of his hindquarters long enough to return the favor.

I'm sorry, King of Men, but that's not how it works in my college at least. To get an A you have to really work for it, and it's really gratifying to think you've done really badly and come up with a good grade.
If you're irritated by the post, don't post a reply. It gets the post off the front page faster.
By the way, SO, congrats.

Well, y'know, it was pass-fail. No grades. So what I did was the best possible. Whereas a B+, well, it's not a bad grade by any means. It's just a little bob-bob-bob, don't'cherknow. Still, perhaps I could have been a little less dismissive. So congrats SO.
