The Love Bug is back. But this time, he's got human-ized "facial expressions." I'm still excited about the movie, I think I will be always. I love Herbie. But Hollywood needs to know when to quit with the CGI.

Okay, what I can't figure out is why Disney isn't able to pick up on these warning signs. I mean, I was alive -- and watching Disney movies -- during the late '70s and early '80s. And I'm capable of looking at one of those films and saying, "Okay, here's why this film didn't work."
And I'm pretty sure that the people at Disney are, too. In fact, I'm pretty sure they recall that same period as a dark period in their history, and specifically look to the creative renaissance of the early '90s as a rejection of the philosophies that led them down the wrong path in the '70s and '80s.
So what would possess them to not only remake bad films from this period but to remake them with the same things that made them bad in the first place? Doesn't this set off any danger signs in their mouse-eared skulls? Or was the recent remake of "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" so successful that we're going to start seeing things like "Escape from the Return to Witch Mountain?" Maybe "Patty's Dragon?"

Eljay, those are probably the ONLY funny parts in the movie. Sure I liked watching Matt Dillon get the can of whoop-<bleep>, but that's not enough to carry a whole movie for me.

I have to agree with ElJay, the trailer (seen while waiting for HGTTG to start) looked pretty good. I'd go see it. It's a bit of fluff, but that's okay.
Besides, maybe they realized that all that was REALLY lacking in the first two Love Bug movies was a bit of CGI.

I think you give Disney too much credit. Self-analysis and learning from mistakes are not their strong suits.

When I went to see HHGTTG, itself based on a novel, every single trailer was for a film derivitive of another work.
-Batman -The Pink Panther -The Bad News Bears -Howl's Moving Castle -Herbie -Chicken Little
Not to crap on any of them (ESPECIALLY the brilliant Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle), but I found it interesting that there wasn't a single original screen story in the lot.
