Plaid just called my cell phone. He is having Greyhound nightmares and isn't going to make it for dinner tonight.
In his words, "I really, really hate Greyhound at the moment." (which is pretty extreme for the ordinarily mellow plaid) He hasn't been able to make it on a bus from Springfield, MO to St. Louis, MO because they've been too full. Hopefully he'll be on a computer by this evening to make his apologies himself.

Did plaid say whether or not this is going to affect all the rest of his trip? Or is he done circumventing the country?

I know his trip is coming to an end. I unfortunately do not have a number I could call him back at even if I wanted to because my cell phone screen has died. I believe he was scheduled to be in Bloomington this weekend, so I don't know how this fits in with that sequence of events.
so yeah, stupid stupid Greyhound, TWICE I haven't been able to get on the bus because it was full.
Greyhound cancelled a whole bunch of Missouri and Arkansas bus stops and routes recently, and the upshot of that is that where they used to have 4-5 buses a day going to St. Louis, now they only have 3 and they've all been full and lots of folks like me haven't been able to get on and they just tell us to come back later and don't offer us any travel vouchers or anything.
When I'm back in Virginia I'm going to write a bunch of letters to local Missouri media and Better Business folks to ask them to look into this. Greyhound has always been kinda sucky, but this is really, REALLY stinky...
This is the tail end of my trip now. If I get into St. Louis tonight, I can still catch my bus to Bloomington tomorrow morning. Then late Saturday night I'll catch a train back to Virginia... and then I'm not going ANYWHERE for a long, long time!!!
It's been a fun trip (and nice to meet Hatrackers!) but it's been a LONG trip and Greyhound is now trying to crush my soul. (Hm, maybe I should bring along a crucifix and garlic when I try to get on the bus again in a few hours. "Back, you evil ticket agent! Back!!")

Sorry. I had internet connectivity problems yesterday afternoon, so didn't see this. Oh well, I had a good dinner with out you, and your friend was nice enough to call me and let me know what happened.
PS. I hate traveling by bus.
Hope the rest of your oddesey goes better.
