Yep, it's spring. The dandelions are changing to puff balls, the dog poop is getting absorbed into the soil out behind the garage, and the City of Radcliffe has set up giant dumpsters for residents to drop off their accumulated junk at no charge.
Now...in a town of 600 or so people, most of whom are elderly and probably out of their garbage accummulation phase, one might expect that a single large (50 yard) dumpster would be enough. They had two of them. They were already full when we got there at 8:15.
But this was probably due to all the people coming into town from surrounding areas, and dumping their stuff last night under cover of darkness.
Obligingly, the city crew just told people to start dumping into piles next to the dumpsters and they'd take care of it later.
We got rid of a 12' trailer full of junk.
It's nice.
The guys working for the city came and helped us unload.
I only banged my head on the lip of the trailer twice. That's some sort of record.

Oh wow! Local consignment shop said that they would gladly take the couch, love seat and chair from heck. It's amazing. Sight unseen. Well, of course, their brains would simply deny the evidence of their senses if they actually saw the things anyway.
Sadly, these are very comfortable items. They are just so butt-ugly (orange cushions, large oddly shaped wooden frames).
Woo hoo! If we can just make it over there before closing, they'll be gone today!!!

It's doable. If you want them, we would bring them to you. I'd be happy to know that someone was using them.

In fact, we could bring them today. is your e-mail in profile? I'll send phone numbers....
edit:
In fact, just did send an e-mail.
Call soon or e-mail back soon. We don't HAVE to take the stuff over to the shop today, but it'd be nice to know if you DON'T want them so we can get it done today.
If you do want them, no problem...we'll either bring it all today or you can tell us a good time to drive on by...

It amuses us too. Except that Dana's computer loses her posts if she hits the flood protection whereas mine saves the text and I can just hit the 'back' button and wait a minute to resend.
She was a bit perturbed that time she lost a huge post when I snuck in 10 seconds before her to post some bit of fluff. Now she writes her longer posts in Word first and then pastes them into Hatrack.

Ah ahahahaha! I didn't realize that you'd hit the flood protection when crossposting, that's really funny.

Dana: when the flood protection pops up, leave that screen up and wait a bit. Click the refresh button after the ten seconds has passed. Your browser will ask if you want to resend form data, choose yes.
The post will happen.

Ah. I think of it as when someone posts while you're posting and theirs shows up first and makes yours look either redundant or silly.

I think of it as two people who interact outside the forum posting at the same time. For instance, if I was chatting with BtL on AIM and we were also both posting on Hatrack we'd be crossposting. I'm more likely to use it in cases where the external interaction is concurrent with the posting, but my usage isn't exclusive to those cases.
Added: More "to the same thread at the same time" than just "at the same time," though.

You can't see much of the chair, but you can see the color. Of course, like you said, it could be covered.

We missed the consignment store today... Too much other stuff. Couches & chair are yours. If you got that e-mail, give a call sometime soon so we know you really want the stuff. If it's still here by the time we move, it'll be gone.
