Ok, tonight is my high-school's prom. Due to my stupidity last year. I am making rules for myself and posting them so everyone can beat me senseless if I break the rules.

1. I will walk through the door with one girl.

2. I will walk out the door with the same girl.

3. I will not dance with anyone other than my date.

4. I will not drive any one other than my date anywhere.

5. I will not ditch my date unless she has found some one else first.

Ok, now that I've stated my rules... I'd like to go on the record as saying even though i really don't want to go to prom, I'm excited about it. I'm going with a friend who couldn't find a date. Well since My going was a last minute thing, My tux doesn't fit (every one in my size was taken), We don't have dinner reservations, and I have to go to work at 10 am (I couldn't get it off since i didn't know i was going till with in a week of it)...

So, our plan consists of me picking her up around 4:30, and instead of dinner, we're going to go see Star Wars Episode 3 (popcorn for dinner, score...) then we're going to prom. after prom, Some people are coming back to my house for a post prom bonfire. And everybody has to be gone by 9 am... but I'm still kinda excited about it.

I hope you have a better story to tell this year than last.

At least one we don't all get angry at you for.

Be a good guy and make sure your date has a wonderful time.

Well, heck - I'd rather see SWIII and have popcorn than some silly dinner, anyhow.

Be good and have a nice time.

Did you write your rules on your wrist for easy reference?

*grin*

You've already left, so I'll text your cell or something, but you really should dance with Mary Ellis, it would make her happy.

I thought about starting this thread, but decided against it, glad he did it (now if that evil link could be edited out)

" but you really should dance with Mary Ellis"

I'm confused. Is Mary Ellis the date?

The whole point of being someone's date is that they are more concerned about your happiness than other people's. It's not exactly a Star Trek Utopia, but on the other hand it isn't Logan's Run.

Oh, his date needn't worry about any ulterior implications from dancing with Mary Ellis, she's a lesbian.

Though dancing with various people has been a part of formal dances for hundreds of years.

dancing with other people is what he thinks got him into trouble last year, actually posting the linked thread is. I think Mary Ellis would enjoy dancing with him, probably more than she would enjoy his date, and probably he's the only one who gets this.

Tyler, I'm still waiting for a report on how it went... it'd better be spotless, or you KNOW what I'll do to you. [Razz]

That having been said, I hope you and Sasha had a great time!

IT is rather spotless... my date and I went our separate ways during prom, but we still left together and I now need to run her home. I'll give a fuller report later.

Why don't we have anything worthwhile HERE?

I don't ever get to wear tuxedo[e]s! I personally think that I can look good in one of those with the right configuration of looks...

I don't get to have a date, and I'm stuck in a boys' school! SO BLOODY WHAT if we study 45 hours a week? I can be as smart possible but still suffer from this symptom of lacking any proper completion and closure of a schoolyear.

Damn it, JTS, don't blow what you have! You got the chance to make out with one that isn't your date (and you probably also made out with your date that night), and now you have a new ethical code you've made - a menifesto, if you like - so you're set for another, [more successful,] new prom night.

You're a great guy, so get going and don't bugger up. I know I wouldn't do anything that could ruin my prom night had I the once-in-a-schooltime opportunity to do so. Hang on to it, and make sure I NEVER have to read another one of those threads (even though they're a bit funny in retrospect).

JH

EDIT:

1) Note to Self: Never scan through these threads!

2) Proofing. I have to work on it.

THREE PROM-NIGHTS?

What's the difference between this and next one?

the next one will be his senior year, the first one was his sophomore year, and I think next year he's wearing a hawaiian shirt and shorts, but that could have changed, hopefully for whatever poor girl goes with him. Jonothan, make no assumptions on what happened last year, with his date or otherwise.

I only hope that the lesson was learned, and that he won't bugger up this one.

He gets three, I get none. How fair is that?

I also know I wouldn't ditch my girl, but directly ask the one I have a crush on out (if I didn't have the guts to ask her out I wouldn't dream of a flirt), but I'm not here to judge, just to warn in retrospect.

As long as you're not feeling bummed, Sarah; that's the important bit here.

Hey JH, Last year, as a sophomore, I couldn't buy my own ticket (and nether could the girl i ended up with).

Now... about last night.... So I picked my date up at 4, we went to the 5 o'clock showing of SWIII (which was amazing, a little cheesy in the begging, but well worth while). It was great, we got weird looks from people who were dressed in Jedi outfits... LOL... After we were done at the movies, we went and grabbed a bite to eat at Wendy's (once again, just so we could say we did). After that we headed off to prom. Once we got there, we stuck together for about a half hour, at which time my date wanted to go hang out with some of her other friends (one of which would gladly stick a steak knife in my chest) so I went off to hang out in the corner along with the others who refused to dance/didn't have dates. While over there, I started talking to an Ex of mine who I haven't talked to in a little less than a year. we chatted and then she forced me to dance. Well we danced a few slow ones, and then returned to our corner to catch up. About 10:30 they had the crowning of the prom king and queen, after wards My ex and my date hopped into my car and we drove back to my place to hang out with a few other people. I spent the rest of the night getting kicked out from the pile of blankets by the fire, and then wrestling my way back in (both my date and my ex found it very amusing to taunt me). lol so over all the night was amusing and everything stayed playful... and i only broke a few of my rules... lol

JTS, rules are not meant to be broken.

But better to physically break a rule then potentially break a heart.

The word "stake" comes to mind.

I agree, breaking rules is bad, but I do it too so who cares, just personal rules, nothing legal.

What's with all this leaving of the date?

Is that common practice?

Why not just go by yourself, then you don't have to worry about hurting anyone's feelings if you want to dance with so-and-so?

going to prom doesn't have to be just dancing with your date, you can spend a bit of time with other people, that wasn't his problem last year, his problem last year does not need to be mentioned.
