She was born at 3:18am on Saturday, May 21st after a long night in the waiting room. She weighs 6 pounds and 15 ounces. She's got ten fingers and ten toes and really long legs. She's got a head full of dark hair and a cute little nose. She sneezes every 5 minutes and gets the hiccups every time she drinks the hospital's milk.
She makes the craziest, most beautiful faces in everything she does. She doesn't like light, but she loves her daddy. She likes to chew on her right hand, and she's still a little miffed at those mean nurses for putting mittens on her hands.
Her name is Katlyn Adora Glenn, but her dad calls her Katey Bug. And someday she'll call me "Aunty Jenn."
She's absolutely perfect, and I'm completely in love with her.
I've been rocking pillows and purses all day today. I'm having withdrawals.
[Short background: My brother, Joshua, is one of my favorite people in the world. He's incredible. He's 22 and just starting out in life. The relationship he's in now with Autumn, Katlyn's mom, started out rough, and so circumstances now are kind of strange. It's not that my family hasn't tried to love her, there's just some hard feelings on both sides. Her mother won't even speak to any of us. *shrug* Anyway, since Katlyn wasn't a planned thing, and there's not going to be another baby from anyone in my immediate family any time soon, this is a big deal. Josh is going to be a great dad. I just know it. I'm so proud of him.]
I would ask that you'd pray for both of them, though.
P.s. how would you guys spell Katlyn? I would spell it Kaitlyn, but Autumn wants it the first way. If she hates the "I" so badly, I told her at least spell it Katelyn. But I'm just the aunt, and I'm learning I don't get to make a lot of the decisions
Nevertheless, I can't stop smiling. <-- me for the past 2 days.
My only problem now is stealing her away to a wonderful land where nothing will ever harm her and no one will ever break her heart or hurt her feelings...

It was wonderful. Thank you for asking.
Tater, the baby is not crying, needing to be held. Trust me. The first few days, they eat, sleep, mess their diapers, and burp. That's it, other than looking around a little and being adorable. If she cries, her needs will be attended to, and she'll not go without holding. Don't you worry. You're very sweet, though.

Why don't you turn that energy toward shopping for her? I can point you toward many, many products that are wonderful, that new parents won't necessarily know about. In fact, so will many people here, if you're wanting to burn some money on your sweetheart.

I wish you all much joy! A new baby is the happiest thing in this world to celebrate! Enjoy her all you can. It seems like the time goes by at incredible speed. I feel like my 3 year old nephew was born 6 months ago and my 7 month old daughter was born last week!

Burn my money? No way! I've got to save that for her college fund.
I like the speed time is going. I've known Kaitlyn for a couple days, and it seems like she's been around my whole life.
Guess what.. I'm officially the luckiest, most blessed person in the world. Kaitlyn (and mommy and daddy) are staying with me for a week.
All the more hugging and kissing and feeding and cuddling and putting socks that she kicks off back on... and a few diapers. (Gotta let mommy have some fun.)
Thanks again everybody.
Hopefully there will be an online birth announcement here soon. Autumn said they told her it would be up Wednesday. I'll certainly put it here.

Sorry to keep this thread alive when I guess you people want it to die.
I'm just so thrilled about Katlyn, she consumes all of my thoughts lately.
She stayed at my house the past two nights, and she's staying with Autumn's mom tonight my only comfort is that she'll be back tomorrow night. (I don't know what I'm going to do when she moves into her home and I only see her once a month.. Oh dear.)
Anyway, here she is. Bold and beautiful. (But not smiling, she's not a smiler. )

Yeah, my whole family has long fingers. "Piano fingers," as my dad calls them.
Goodness, babies have a way of turning a person into a sissy. I used to be tough as nails. I had to shed those outer layers of toughness, however, in order to make successful baby talk.
...It was worth it.

Babies are awesome! Congratulations on being a new aunt! Wow it didn't take her long to get you wrapped around her finger. She's beautiful!

Convince my brother to agree to have kids and maybe someday I can answer this question... <grumblemutter>

No, Tater, it happened exactly the same for me with all three of my nieces. And I still adore them, 19, 17, and 16 years later, respectively.
