I'm sitting here grumbling to myself because we always get paid on the last working day of the month. THIS month, that's the day after Memorial Day. Most of us staff don't make much money, so a lot of us are living paycheck to paycheck. Anyway, we have Memorial Day off (Sort of. We're forced to take personal leave hours or make up the hours during the week, if approved.) and we get paid the day AFTER the 3-day weekend. Gee, thanks a lot. Coulda used that to have memorial day fun. Bah.
Whatever. I'm spending the day packing. We're moving... we just have no idea where yet.
Now to the reason for this post. I was thinking to myself: I wish May 31st didn't even exist! Then we'd get paid TODAY! Then it occurred to me, that I would be taking 1 day away from every calendar year, and what day would that make today? January?? How many years ago did May 31st get invented, anyway? Would there have to be another 31st tacked on somewhere?
In other words, would the lack of a May 31st mean that I would have gotten paid TODAY this year?!

I want some picnic food! Dangit. If I don't get a July 4th celebration at least this year, somebody's gonna pay!!!

Could just add a couple of days to February. Or better yet, have 13 28day months with the NewYear'sHoliday between December and (the new month of) Aspectre. Any LeapDay would be a day off immediately before the NewYear'sHoliday.

My mom's birthday would then be the last day of the month.
This year, her birthday is on Memorial Day, again. May 30 used to be Memorial Day every year, before they changed it. It was a really big deal, with flags and parades and everything. Her dad told her that was all for her birthday.
She was soooo mad when she found out the truth. (Grandpa was a big kidder.)
