Ok, something is off here. Pets eat raw food all the time.

Not all raw food is contaminated with salmonella.

Ok, here it is:

quote:
People handling these treats can become infected with Salmonella Thompson, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with any the treats or any surfaces exposed to these products.

I don't think the pets get it

Yes, they can. The bulk of the recall notice was aimed at human health issues, but it is also a concern for the pets, as well.

I think that is a different form: Emerging Diseases: Human Concerns?

Yes, they can carry, but I think the human version doesn't make them sick and vice versa.
This recall is the human version and doesn't seem to be the one that can make pets sick.

That may be so. The recall recommends not giving the treats to pets, though, and I certainly wouldn't knowingly give my dogs anything that had any risk of salmonella of any type. To my mind, better safe than sorry, ESPECIALLY when it comes to my dogs.

edited cause cats are pets, too.
