- Kashmir, Led Zeplin
- Bittersweet Symphony, The Verve
- Clubbed to Death, Rob Dougan
- Wake up, Rage against the Machiene
- Furious Angels, Rob Dougan

All of these contain a string sound heavily amplified/manipulated and edited. That sound, I love. It is/feels to me like a green essence, the same color as those glowing numbers in The Matrix.

I'm looking for songs that are like these "Glowing Green Songs." Any ideas?

I know the sound you're talking about from bittersweet symphony... but wake up?? There are NO string sounds what so ever other than guitar in Wake Up. If we're talking about the Wake Up used as the Matrix theme...

For the first 2 seconds before the other noise starts, and also at around 45ish seconds -- that is a string sound, yes? I don't really know terminology.

*shake* Phanto those are all sounds acheived with a guitar. Not a stringed instruments. Various ways of setting the distortion and reverb and manipulating the strings will give sounds like that. There are no non-guitar stringed instruments in Wake Up. There are tons in Bittersweet Symphony, and I haven't heard those other songs so I couldn't say [Wink]

I'll look through my music see if I can find you some more though. That aren't actual strings that is [Razz]

A guitar is, technically, a stringed instrument, neh? [Razz]

Dream On - Aerosmith uses some string-like sounds that. Mostly quietly in the background.

Always - Blink 182 has some as well.

Flogging Molly has a lot of songs that employ a similar sound, as well as flat out real fiddle.

Incubus uses a variety of sounds, some of them string-like in quailty in their stuff.

If you like the sounds in Wake Up, try Hysteria by Muse. I wouldn't describe it as stringy but I think it might fit what you're thinking of here. As would a fair amount of other Muse stuff.

We Can Be Hero's - The Wallflowers. Again not a sound I would describe as stringy, but I think you'd describe it as green.

We Can Be Hero's - The Wallflowers. I started listening to it -- and there it was, the green sound! The Blink 182 song also held it.

Interesting how the mind works. Thanks for the recommendations -- I will have to digest them [Smile] .

Thanks for saying that, Annie. If you hadn't, I would have said it. [Smile]
