I recently installed Windows 2000 on my Dad's comp. and he's having problems with his connection. It will connect and when you first pull up a browser it will display a website but minutes later no pages will open and he recieves a message that the page couldn't be opened. The connection is still active but unusable. It seems like some sort of DNS problem but I'm unable to solve the problem. I'm hoping someone here can provide some info for me.

Argh. I still run Windows 2000 and I really dislike it even from the most basic level of knowledge that I have.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

I like windows 2000, but I have no idea how to fix that.
What sort of IP does he have?

Um, Windows 2k isn't obsolete for a few more months. [Wink]

By the way, I still use it. Reliable, does games just fine, pretty much WinXP without the Luna interface. [Smile]

That almost sounds like you've got some malicious software there. Do you lose access to your local network as well, just the internet, or just web sites?

KoM, I have an aversion to Microsofts' latest expression of contempt for its' customers. The "phone home" technology in XP is repellent to me.

Syn, He has a dial-up account

Bekenn, he has no lan. The modem indicates that it is still connected but the browser indicates it can't locate servers for any page we try to open.
