I read an article a couple days ago which said that he can maintain a heart rate of about 200 for extended periods of time.

It also stated that his body produces less Lactic Acid (which makes your legs feel like jelly when you run) than just about anyone on the planet.

He really is an amazing creature.

quote:
During those rare moments when he is at rest, it beats about thirty-two times a minute—slowly enough so that a doctor who knew nothing about him would call a hospital as soon as he heard it. (When Armstrong is exerting himself, his heart rate can edge up above two hundred beats a minute.)

Wow. It doesn't even feel right to have a Tour de France thread without Hobbes....

Is that related to his cancer? Or was that a pre-cancer phenomenon for L. Armstrong as well?

He didn't really become all that competitive until after his cancer, but it is a testament to his traing, nothing more, nothing less.

A lot of professional atheletes have heart rates like that, at least during their peak years. It isn't that unusual, really.

:corrects Lanfear:

How do I get one of these "traing"s? I could really use one right about now.
