I have it in my hot little hands! I also got a poster and neon green bracelet that has today's date on it. Very excited! My bookstore was totally organized and even though I was #209, I was out of the store at 12:35. Impressive.

There was wand making (which was kind of lame) and face painting. It was really busy but they moved everybody out pretty quickly.

Lots of gothic types there as well lots of kids (as expected). Well, I'm off to read.

God you freak. I would never sacrifice the sacred act of sleep for a book.

I had to go get milk last night anyway, so I went to
B&N and picked up a copy. They sold over 1300 copies, about 900 of them pre-orders. [Big Grin]

One of those is mine, although my wife adn I read it at teh same time. I read faster than she does, although she reads fast as well, so she gets it at work, then I read it at night when she has gone to bed.

I usually finish in one setting, sometimes two. [Big Grin]

Finished it a bit before 6 (if I recall correctly) this morning. Would have finished it earlier if I hadn't started slowing down and then dozing off near the end.

Pisses me off; it is released on SATURDAY MORNING, not SUNDAY MORNING.

That means the Jews are buggered.

Huh. Last time my Amazon preorder came by UPS, this time it showed up in my regular mail. Grabbed it on the way to work, which means I'll have to read at breaks and during dinner and late, late tonight. Agh!

Hmm. Some of those traffic lights get pretty long, I could probably knock out a chapter or two on the way in...

We've got ours. I'm in the middle of a re-read of the series (just finished #2 for the ummm.... 4th time total?) while my 11 year old reads #6. And since it's technically her birthday present, I suppose it would be only proper for me to let her have first crack at it. At the rate each of us reads, I'll finish 5 at just about the time she finishes 6. And THEN I have to re-read Eragon because Eldest is being released on August 23. And then (longer term deadline) I have to reread Wicked because I discovered that Son of a Witch is coming out in October. I think I'm going to be on a library diet for a while...

Chris,

evidently Amazon and UPS cut a deal with the U.S. Post Office. According to Amazon, UPS was shipping my book.

The book was shipped by UPS alright - from the nearest UPS transit facility to the local U.S. Post Office on Saturday morning. I ran into to the mail carrier when he was bringing them into the apartment building. (Note - I wasn't interested in him at all, since I expected UPS to be delivering the book.)

He looked at me and said "your name is Drake?" (this amazed me on its own. Our mail gets delivered into little apartment mailboxes. I've never taken anything from him personally. How'd he connect my face with my name????)

Anyway, he handed me the book and said that UPS had delivered them all to the Post Office early in the morning.

It was the "where is my HP6?! I need my HP6!" look you were wearing. [Wink]

You know, the one I still have. I am so tempted to go out and buy a copy at the local supermarket . . . but I will wait for mine to be delivered Monday. While I'm at work.

. . . maybe I'll come home for lunch. [Wink]

I bought mine at Sam's. Cheapest price around, there were plenty of them, just walked in and got it along with some paper towels and Diet Dr. Pepper I needed.

I decided not to participate in the pre-order frenzy, reasoning I could get an inexpensive copy on Saturday morning. I was right.

Belle, I had the same idea. For OOTP I went to Walmart at midight and just grabbed one off the pallet they had in the front of the store and walked out with the book for about 15 bucks. I didn't get to go at midnight this time but I got up Saturday morning and did the same thing. Walmart, big pallet, 15 bucks.

Got mine at Barnes&Noble at midnight (between my member card and balance on a gift card I only paid $12 [Smile] ). I'm on chapter 23 now, but my darling son read the last chapter and told me, my employee and his two daughters some crucial stuff. We are still thinking what torture is appropriate.

Xavier read a spoiler on one of the other threads by mistake and found out who the Half Blood Prince really is, but he was kind enough to not even hint. He says he wishes he didn't know.
