My father almost had a heart-attack in 1960, watching Australia play the West Indies; today's match almost gave me a heart-attack. Australia lost by TWO RUNS to England, and the only reason it was so close is due to Australia's "Monumental Rabbits", to quote Wes Hall.
Someone give me a tranquiliser, please. I won't see a match like that in probably another 25 years. There was 1960, then 1981, then 2005. That's as often as it goes.
Yes, I love cricket, more than needed, but if there's a "HOCKY HOCKEY HOCKEY" thread, why not a "CRICKET CRICKET CRICKET" one?

It was an unbelievable match! I couldn't believe England were that close to losing when they'd outplayed the Aussies for two full days and at least part of the third. Warne and Lee played amazing though...

I had to listen to today’s play on the radio as my boyfriend loves cricket. He got more and more nervous as the Australian tail enders kept getting runs. We couldn’t believe how well those last three batsmen played today. When the final wicket was taken I had a very happy boyfriend in the car next to me!

Warne was just lucky. He flinched, closed his eyes and jumped up embracing himslf and hiding behind the bat on one of Harmison's balls. It didn't stop him from getting a second boundary that over.
It still didn't register that England won, to me it was just a great match. Like the 1960 one (AUS vs WI) when it took hours for them to believe it was a tie.

There was a fair bit of luck involved - so many edges that didn't carry or went for four, and that dropped catch in the second to last over. If we're being fair, Kasper was unlucky to be given out at the end, but then so were Bell and Pietersen in England's second innnings. Rob and I really thought that England were going to lose, and we absolutely went mad when Jones (whose keeping has not been fantastic) took that last catch! What a moment!

Pietersen is the antithesis of Don Bradman; Flintoff's on the way towards being an Ian Botham, and since his bowling is virtually as good as Harmison's and his batting seems to surpass Vaughn's... He's a brilliant all-rounder.
But when Bell first came to the match against Australia (since his only tests were against Bangladesh), Glenn McGrath asked him: "What are you doing here? Isn't it past your bed-time?" It's a shame Glenn's missing these two matches...
Problems in the 2nd Aussie innings were getting critical when Dizzy, as night-watchman, was out. Apparently, it wasn't too good. Though Warne was fooling around, hope was still that Clarke - if he played well as he surely can - will make those hundred-and-a-bit runs Aus needed. Harmison couldn't get him out, nor could Giles with his bitter face (what amazes me is that Warne - best spin-bowler in history - can't face a spun ball). when Flintoff finally got Clarke out on the last ball it was obvious Aus would lose.
But Warne played horribly lucky this morning, and Lee was smart enough to block. When Warne, however, stomped his stumps (he was moving all around in those last three overs - in, out and around the crease), Lee took action as he knew Kasp isn't too good a batsman. But Kasprowicz got himself two (?) boundaries, and Lee was taking shots ideally - running for it, hooking it, pulling it, batting it, and running without too much risk.
The last three overs almost got them out several times - but they remained in until G. Jones (no great wicket-keeper) caught what he needed to. I still think it ought to have been a tie. I was heart-attacked for minutes!

I think the thing Dagonee is getting at is that although Jonathan claims this thread is a dobie, it is not actually a dobie.
Dobies must have titles that closely match the original thread ('Good God OSC' vs 'Good Cod OSC', for example). The thread must contain a link and may also contain accompanying text that may or may not parody the original.
This thread has none of the requirements and therefore is not a dobie but only a parody of the title.
HOKEY HOKEY HOKEY would be a name for a dobie of HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY.

Unfortunately I don't understand how cricket is played...I've seen some kids playing at the local gym but I never could understand it. Anybody want to explain it? Or not, I'm sure it's pretty intensive

Yes... very good for Australia, should be a good contest. The ball that Lee got Strauss with was very good - clever bowling there. Meanwhile, Gilchrist has been England's saviour on 2 occasions It looks to be another great Test match, though unfortunately I can't see all of it as I'm off to Uganda tonight.

Warne's only the best wrist-spinner in history (except maybe... um... Give me a week for that). He can settle for Tress, though it's much for exciting for him to get Pietersen. After all, he's Pete's role-model, meanind it'd bring England's best batsman down.
Heck, Ian Botham is almost off the charts of wicket-taking.
