Is Minerva McGonnagal part of the Order of the Pheonix? And if not, then why the heck isn't she?

where is that? and why isn't she doing more for them? You would think, her being almost as powerful as Dumbledore, that she'd be doing SOMETHING important...

JKR doesn't elaborate. She doesn't really say anything about what the others do, does she? And don't forget that while McGonagall might be an excellent witch, there other just as excellent magical folk in the Order who are slightly more interesting - Tonks, Lupin, Moody... So she talks about them more. Besides, McGonagall gets enough attention throughout the series, don't they deserve some?

Speaking of McGonagall, did anyone else like the way she handled telling Neville that he couldn't take NEWT level Transfiguration but that he should take Charms?

She's always been one of my favorites. She reminds me of my 6th grade teacher, one of my favorite teachers ever.

Oh no - bad thought coming... will I ever meet professor Flitwick again? I'll miss him. Kind, witty, talented, with a dash of a goblin...Farewell!

I was not pleased at how dismissive she was of Harry's comment about Rosemerta at the end. I mean, after everything he just told her, she balked at Rosemerta's involvement?
Unless there's some connection between those two that I don't know, and I don't rule that out, that just seems overly incredulous to me. Which is a flaw she's had throughout the books - not believing things Harry (and I'd imagine all students) tells her, simply because they are "only" students.

It's not only that. McGonagall seems to be strong-minded and brave because of her strict appearance, which is actually quite misleading. She's always undecisive when it comes to dangerous situations, and lacks qualities of a leader whenever it is required (see HBP after the attack on the school).
