...Sophie and I went for a little walk around the block today. She was getting a bit fussy before bath time, and didn't want me to read to her anymore, so she stood up and stuck out an insistent hand and led me out the front door, past the neighbor's house, and up and over their flatbed trailer, pausing only to pick a flower, turn over a leaf, and point out a water main. (She also walked up their sidewalk to their front door, but chickened out before we rang the bell.)

It was considerably more wonderful than it sounds.

You've got a kid with a mind of her own there. How shocking. [Wink]

Simple pleasures...

How neat.

I admire how you've managed to keep in touch with your outer child, Tom. [Wink]

She is growing and changing daily. What an awesome young woman.

(But oh, does she ever love her mommy and daddy. Nobody else comes close! *smile

Good taste, that one.)

I do confess to sniffing her head while snuggling together with our storybook, but that was because of the yummy shampoo smell.

I couldn't smell her brain or anything.

They can certainly be ripe when they haven't had their diaper changed. >.<

I can't believe it has been a whole year already! Young children really do remind us of the passage of time.

Yep. There's nothing like the small insistent hand.

The pointing and hooting in delight is pretty great too.
