Well, that's all part of The Plan. See, Beany, you guys are flypaper and terrorists are flies. Terrorism in the Middle East is good--that means that the terrorists aren't here. The acts of terrorism mean that they fear Israeli democracy spreading to other countries. Their terrorism is a last-ditch effort to stop that spread, get it? So, just hang in there and soon the terrorists will give up as the democracy spreads. Or something.

Before replying, I want to ask you something - what is the meaning of "here" (Terrorism in the Middle East is good--that means that the terrorists aren't here)?

Here being America. [Smile]

My previous post was kind of sarcastic. Please don't take it seriously. I was just poking fun at some of the things being said by Fearless Leader and his minions about Iraq and terrorism.

Your post did seem quite odd to me. Especially because from some reason you thought that it would make me happier to think that my country is suffering instead of others. [Razz]

The thing is, it's not even true. Destroying Israel has the goal of most Arab countries every since it evolved. Beforehand, They just wanted to kick the Jews out of the region named ”Palestine- Country of Israel”. They don’t care if we’re a democracy or a dictatorship. They’re mad because they don’t rule the entire Middle East. They’re mad because the Jews beat the crap out of them despite being much fewer and already hated by most of the world.

The Palestinians are mad because they see the Jews as the only cause of their exile and lack of autonomy. They fail to admit that it was they who started the war when it was decided to establish two states in the country, a Jewish one and an Arab one. It was “all or nothing” for them, and they got zoot. And when they had opportunities later, they foolishly overruled them, elected murderous madmen like Yasser Arafat, believing that one day the will manage to wipe out Israel from its Jews and establish one Palestinian state on all of Israel’s territory.

Israel has nothing to do with the "clashing of civilizations". This is pure hatred, an ego war. The only thing these fundamentalists understand is force. They won't be ready for peace if we get too compromising and righteous. And on the other hand our forces will never solve the terror problem.

This will only end when the moderate Islam initiates an anti-terror campaign. They will have to be prepared to die for their ideology, and that is much more difficult than being willing to sacrifice yourself for your nation or religion.

I think there's a lot of truth in this.

But does moderate Islam exist?

There was a small story buried in Friday's Atlanta paper about a group of American muslims denoucing via fatwa terrorism in general and suicide bombings and attacks on civilians specifially, claiming that such methods go against the Koran. I have no idea what difference this might make in the middle east or England.

One problem is, moderate Palestinians (and other muslims as well) who speak up tend to face danger of violence and death from the radicals among their own countrymen--which leads to a sadly inevitable radicalizing of Palestinian politics. [Frown]

Beanny, tht article wa a wolf in sheeps clothing. You could as easily made an article condemming Christianity or Judism using the same "standards" he used. He claims to respect the opposing view, but then makes groos mischaracterizations of their views.

According to a lot of Christian religions divorce is banned, but just because someone gets divorced doesn't man they are no longer Christian. By definition, a modern, moderate Muslim would have his religion and his culture at conflict at times, but just because he/she would be willing to possibly compromise doesn't mean he stops becoming a Muslim....

Unless you only consider the opinions of the very radicals that you are fighting against.

I think in one of the threads we had about terrorism a while back, we looked and determined it was one of the central american countries. I want to say Columbia.

Though, now that I think about it, this was before Iraqi liberation. Maybe things have changed.

On the surface of it, that somewhat makes sense. It would be interesting to see who's doing the counting, though.
