3000 freshman get here today. And I have to go table for them and their parents instead of hiding in my house far far away from where they live. Ahh!

I'm so sorry. The students are arriving back at our campus, too.

I feel your pain.

Ours arrive on Saturday. I'll be helping Raia move in - bonus is that I get to gawk at all the the noobs. [Wink]

Last year my old roommate and I crashed the ice cream social they throw for the froshies. We dressed the part and went around asking them if they were on our floor or in our mentor groups...

Fun times. [Smile]

Yea the freshman get some pretty good events. They've started checking class status by scanning our ID cards so it'd be hard to crash really cool food events.

Ah - our events are open-air, mostly, so they're easy to crash. Plus I'm friends with a lot of RAs and mentors, who always have to be at these events to watch over their 'lil lost chicks.

Edit:
I'm proud to say that the last time I was a freshman was the summer after my freshman year of high school, when I took my first college class. I didn't even go to orientation at my current school, 'cause I arrived second semester. And was given sophomore standing because of the college and AP classes I took during high school

I have indeed. Though I have yet to set foot back on campus and realize that everyone is really back. Campus is so nice during the summer when no one's around.

Ahh, noobies. *giggle*

My last year of university, I worked as what we called a "transfer mentor assistant", which meant that each semester I was assistant to a professor in one section of a course that all junior transfer students had to take called "Jesus and the Christian Community" (JCC). It was sort of a combination of an introduction to the Bible in both a literary and spiritual sense, as well as an introduction to the university as a learning community (it was a private university run by the Mennonite Brethren). But, I didn't just assist the professor by being in class every session, administering exams and helping grade them and like that. Part of my job was to be a sort of resource person for the students in the class, being a "mom" figure/friend, running tutorials, and generally lending moral support. The first semester I had almost 60 "kids" (some of whom were actually older than myself), and the second semester I had around 15. I also worked for a different professor each semester. So, each semester was a completely different experience.

But, boy, do I remember the first days of the semester. Especially the first, as I wasn't officially hired for the position until about fifteen minutes before the first class meeting. Silly story - someone else was supposed to have the position, but she decided at the last minute that she just couldn't do it. My best friend was the student supervisor of the program, and had asked me a couple of days before if I could take the position if the other person flaked out, so I wasn't completely unprepared.

Actually, as I've been watching people move in around the neighborhood over the past few days (I live right across the street from the local public university here), I've decided that I almost miss all that chaos. Almost. *grin*

I'm just wondering where I'll park. I suppose I could fix my bike's flat...
