The news is so terrible, I need some diverting fluff...

So, what's your favorite nut?

I'm partial to the macadamia.

For simple munching, Cashews.

For adding into things, pine-nuts.

Fahim. [Big Grin]

Seriously? Um, cashews - they're great curried! And hazelnuts in that chocolate nutty spread. Yum! But not hazelnuts plain - I go anaphylactic on those. (Did I even come close to spelling that right?)

Actually, I like matzah with cheese and olives. I'm not big on the whole nutella thing.

I like cashews too, and pistachios. Macadamias in cookies are pretty good, too. I'm not generally a huge nut eater, though.

Pistachios, yeah, they're even nicer than the macadamias.

nutella crepes?!?!? Those sound fabulous.

I love macademias right out of the bag/jar, and I like walnuts and pecans for candies--I love turtles and am documented as making fabuous candied walnuts.

I hate walnuts for baking simply because, in my experience, any walnuts that the grocery store sells are already rancid, and I'm too lazy to go to the bother of shelling my own. So I use almonds in baking. Mmmmm!

The only nuts I can tolerate are pecans. They are a little sweet, and have a nice texture, much better than most other nuts. They are great in a pie, especially my mom's recipe.

Snacking - peanuts, primarily, though I have been known to eat all the pecans out of the mixed nut dish. Or if I'm in Greece and the cheapest nuts around are pistachios.

Baking - pecans. Unless it's banana bread, in which case it's walnuts.

And I tolerate Nutella on occasion. Nutella on those shortbread-esque crackers... I think I'm going to dream about that tonight [Smile]

Cashews!

Pistachios are good, too. So's peanut butter, but only the good kind - the kind whose only ingredient is roasted peanuts. I'm a peanut butter purist. [Razz]

And Nutella is addictive.

Macadamias, especially in my dad's macadamia-crust lemon bars. MMMMMMMMM.

(I need to get that recipe. And post it to the Jatraquero Cookbook!)

I can't have Nutella-- allergic to hazelnuts. [Frown]

For snacking--cashews.

For anything else: peanuts. Though I also like almonds, macadamia, and walnuts.

I don't eat nuts as often as I used to due to allergies. [Frown] I miss eating stuff that has peanut butter in it. I LOVE peanut butter.

Filbert

(also called hazelnut by some)

I go down to Nifty Nut House and buy a whole pound and keep them here on my desk for munching on while I work.

I really enjoy most types of nuts (and nut like legumes such as the peanut).

Cashews
Peanuts (honey roasted and salted)
Almonds
Macadamia nuts (especially on White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies)
Pistachios

I love Pecan Shortbread cookies, but I don't like Pecans to munch on so much.
I detest the walnut. Yuck.

Hazelnuts!!

Raw or Toasted, Dipped in chocolate, made in to creamy praline filling, baked into cookies, ground into flour and made into cake, made into Gelato.

The Hazelnut is simply the superior nut anyway you eat it.

At my husband's restaurant, they make the most heavenly spiced nuts. The have some sort of honey or syrup, and some very hot spices. I have been dying to get the recipe.

Hazelnuts.
Almonds.
Pistachios.

Nutella milshakes are the best. Mmm, oh and yes -- Nutella and crepes is an amazing combination. And for those who aren't afraid to go declasse -- dipping pretzels in Nutella is pretty great too.

Oh man.. Pistachios... I like them better than almonds.. but they're so dangerous! I'll eat the whole freaking bag and there's SO much fat in them and I'm allergic to them!

No, almonds are best. I like them plenty, but they don't give me the temptation to eat them till I get sick.

Has anyone tried BlueDiamond Nut Thins?

They come in almond, hazelnut, pecan and smoked almond. These are the best crackers around.

And as a bonus for me, they are completely wheat and gluten free so I can eat them.

And I do love the lowly Filbert, which can only seem to find a marketplace niche by assuming a stage name.

Poor lil Filberts.
