I don't know about you, but I have a real problem with reading bulk paragraphs on the computer. It applies to everything: hatrack, books online, and papers that I'm writing. I have to print them out in order to actually be able to read any of it without my eyes glazing over. Maybe I'm crazy. This is a very real possibility. But does anyone else have this problem, or am I the only one?

I highlight things in little bits so I can read them, lots of people look at me like i'm weird, but it makes it broken up.

Yep, I skip over stuff that looks too long winded.

I also skip over unparagraphed posts. There are a few posters (you know who you are [Wink] ) who are especially bad about this. I feel like if they REALLY want to get their message out, they'll make it readable.

I have to use a piece of paper or a colored ruler to hep me not lose my place in paragraphs like that... especially when I'm transcribing legal descriptioins of properties off the hardcopy surveys into deeds and exhibits to sale contracts. And even that's not foolproof.

I print them out. Otherwise, my attention wanders.

Of course, my attention wandering is nothing new.

I skip "unparagraphed" posts also. It makes it hard to read anywhere, whether on paper or online. It may be worse online though.

One long jumble of words is often just a jumble of ideas. People don't stop to consider the logical structure of their ideas. But I find that people who break their posts into paragraphs also tend to work harder to make their ideas succinct and understandable.

My wife will not attempt to read anything longer than a short paragraph without printing it out, especially if she's proofreading. She just doesn't feel that things visually scan the same way on a computer as on paper.
