Last night there was a great sky at dusk -- big fluffy clouds, very crisp light, and the way that the trees were lit up reminded me of Maxfield Parrish paintings.

Anyone ever experience this, where you feel like what you're seeing is out of a painting? I've experienced this a few other times. One is from reading The Bible Story as a kid -- a series telling stories from the Bible, illustrated by paintings done in the '40s and '50s. The light in the paintings tends to be very crisp and golden, so a few times, like right after a rainstorm, I've looked and said, "Hey, it's Jesus light!"

And I'm slightly myopic, so when I'm not wearing glasses, the world seems kinda Impressionist to me. (Especially at night when it's raining -- MAJOR blurring...)

When I look up and see light streaming through clouds, I think "Oh! Jesus rays!"

Huh. I was always told that those were the sun drawing water.

But, yeah, there are times when I'll see a landscape or a cloud-filled sky that look as much like a painting as real life.

I always wonder how often I'm standing in rays of light and I never know it. It's amazing- we can only ever see those rays from a distance. Up close, you wouldn't even notice.
