What possible reason could Reuters have for running this? The only reason I can think of is because they imagine (probably rightly) that Bush would rather they didn't.

Or maybe they think we'll be disgusted that Bush has to go sometimes?

Someone once told me in all seriousness, around the time I reached voting age, that one should never vote for a presidential candidate that you can't imagine sitting on the toilet.

It's really not bad advice, I think.

I just can't figure out why he always has a runny nose every time he comes back from going potty. [Wink]

To be honest, while this is mildly amusing, it is a little ridiculous that anyone would print this as news...

Other than Drudge, of course... I figure it may have been the only honest thing Drudge has printed this year. [Big Grin]

It does seem peculiar.

But, y'know, what are politicians there for if you can't print a bit of totally useless news about them once in a while?

He has such nice penmanship. Also, notice the change in how he wrote his I's? The second part of the note is in more of a cursive. I switch like that when I'm writing as well. Neat.

Well, I don't think it's particularly good advice, either, primarily because it seems kind of a silly bit of criterion to use to pick a leader.

Still, I'm curious to know the thought processes behind it.

***** ATTENTION!!! *****

Woah! I messed things up! I read things wrong!

I thought the original advice was "Never vote for a presidential candidate you can imagine sitting on the toilet."

This is what I thought was a horrible idea.

I'm really not that much of a prude.

Just goes to show that no matter how great anyone thinks the prez is, he'll never measure up to Captain James T. Kirk or anyone on the original Enterprise crew.

A total of what - 80 episodes - and we never caught anyone of them having to use the bathroom. [Big Grin]

I'm reminded of the old joke when Clinton and Dole were running for prez. On an MTV "Rock the Vote" special someone asked Clinton "boxers or briefs?"
When the same question was put to Bob Dole he answered "Depends."

I think it's kind of funny that someone managed to get a picture of the note like that, and the idea of the leader of the free world asking permission to go to the bathroom sounds a little silly. But no, this isn't something newsworthy in any serious media sense. And realistically, what else should he do, just say "excuse me!" and walk out in the middle of the discussion?

I think the reasoning behind the whole thing (you understand, this advice was given to me many, many moons ago [Wink] ) is that it's not a good thing to to vote someone into one of the most powerful offices in the world who you can't imagine doing normal, human things. I think it would be pretty much the same thing to say, "Don't vote for a presidential candidate that you can't imagine going down the to local convenience store to pick up a quart of milk" or "Don't vote for a presidential candidate that you can't imagine getting up and walking the floor with the crying infant at night."

It all has to do with wanting someone in office who is not completely remote from the activities and concerns of everyday people.

That is a myth. Scotty started the tradition of using the transporters to transport the cr*p out of them.

Why do you think Picard was always begging to go on away missions? Have you noticed that whenever someone got picked to go on an away mission, they'd jump up and practically run all the way to the transporter room?

You know, I always thought Johnsonweed = last name + plant. But now I'm thinking it's last name + past tense intransitive verb.

Not that my screen name is scatological humor proof.

Kwea,

Looking closely at the note in the pic, it appears that he has just finished the letters "GWB" on the bottom of the note.

I wonder if someone saves every scrap of paper he touches.

Which, come to think of it, might be why he alerted Condi to his upcoming trip to the restroom.

Now there's one Presidential library I'm going to avoid.

It's important to have security around the presidential restroom. You never know when a bald, crazed, drug-abusing journalist will storm in with a bowel disruptor in hand and cause a scene.

That's why I didn't vote for the latest democrat.

President Bush had a more pressing worry than terrorism or reforming the United Nations during a Security Counil meeting in New York yesterday - the leader of the world's only superpower wanted to go the loo.
Did anyone else note the omitted letter in the first paragraph? I thought these news outlets had editors...

Hmmm...

That might explain the "caustic and stubborn" description of Dr. Pulaski in the official startrek.com bio. She only used the transporter once in an entire season!

And Reg Barclay had that transporter phobia... But then Barclay had lots of problems and now we know about one more. [Wink]
