OSC hasn't done a book tour through Florida since (I think) 2002.

Neil Gaiman is on tour for his new book "Anansi Boys." No Florida stops.

Terry Pratchett is out for his new Discworld book, "Thud!" No Florida stops.

Getting just a little frustrated here. I realize that publishers make the tours, and for all I know the Florida bookstores aren't asking for them, but c'mon. Somebody I like has to come here.

And I'm good at author signings. I always buy at least one book by the author, even if I have them all. I bring friends. I spread the word.

People in Florida do read. Honest. Hello?

I've always wondered the same thing. I always complain that Terry Goodkind doesn't come to FL, but he says that he doesn't get to choose where...they just send him to places...and since he doesn't like going on long tours, his stops are limited.

I am fairly sure OSC has been to FL recently. It wasn't a book tour, it was some sort of talk in Gainesville. I don't remember what exactly it was for, since I had a test at the same time so I couldn't go. I just remember seeing signs that the writer of Ender's Game was going to be in FL.

I accidently went to the Terry Pratchett book signing in Philly. I had a conversation with a friend that went like this

Me: Wow, that guy looks just like Terry Pratchett
Friend: You know, he does. Creepy huh?
Me: I'm going to get him to sign my book. If I can get the real guy I might as well have his clone sign it for me

That's when I noticed the line. That's also when I also when I realized I missed his whole speech talking to my friend about his books.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

Stephen King comes here rarely, to the Miami Book Fair. He plays with his band, "The Rock Bottom Remainders". Maybe Orson should join!

I'd love a signing down here. Never been to a book signing before. If OSC came down here that would be incredible.
