This seems to be in chronological order from most recent all the way back to 6 months ago or so. I wish that I could say I've read them all, but I've only finished one or two of these.

Terry Pratchett--Thud (excellent, excellent: Pratchett fully lives up to expectations, even if the ending is a tad predictable)
Jasper Fforde--Something Rotten (the final Thursday Next book is clever and ties up loose threads; I fully reccoment reading the other three)
Secret Identity (every bit as good as OSC's review promised)
Neil Gaiman--Marvel 1602 (there's a reason I call Gaiman a genius)
Chaim Potok--The Chosen (wow. Just wow)
Chuck Palahniuk--Fight Club (I'm sorry, I simply hate this book. After I finished reading it, I felt like throwing up in pure disgust. I'll stick with the movie, thanks)

Michelle Sagara - Cast in Shadow (There is a story in here that I really like, but it's almost buried by the author's stylistic prose. Perhaps it will grow on me on reread.)
Octavia E. Butler - Fledgling (OSC held her Wild Seed up as the epitome of quality exposition, with good reason. So why is this novel one indigestible lump of exposition after another? I -want- to like this book. I really do. But I can't find anything in it that's not better done in Clay's Ark and Xenogenesis.)
Patrick Nielsen-Hayden - Starlight I (not read yet)
Peg Kerr - Emerald House Rising (not read yet)
Philip K. Dick - The Man in the High Castle (not read yet)

Samuel Hideo Yamashita - Leaves from an Autumn of Emergencies (I need to find time to do more than skim this; I've seen a lot of the material before, but I think I'll learn a lot from reading it all in one piece.)

I haven't bought any books since just after last Christmas. However, here are some recent library books (all read for personal enjoyment, even the non-fiction):
George R.R. Martin - Song of Ice and Fire series
A bunch of non-fiction that I don't feel like looking up the authors for:

I bought OSC's Lost Boys at the Indianapolis signing. All books since then have been cheap drivel which shall not be mentioned, but include Louis L'Amour and Nora Roberts.
But, I just looked it up and found out that my childhood First Edition White Stallion of Lipizza, by Marguerite Henry is probably worth $60 even without the dust jacket.
Ambyr! I am incredibly jealous of your copy of A Feast For Crows. I have been waiting so long! GRRRRRR. Only a little while longer, only a little while longer...

I didn't say I HAD one yet! ::laughs::. I said "ordered and not yet arrived." I'm not willing to shell out the hundreds an ebay copy demands.

Really? I found the book and movie almost identical. One of the most faithful adaptations of a novel to a movie I have ever seen (The other one being Holes). Much of the dialog was identical word for word.

As you notice I have quite a range of reading levels here. I have kids any where from a 2nd to post high school level, which is great because I can buy books I want to read and still have kids be interested and lower level books that I still think are fun to read in an hour or so.

'kay, I'm a geek. The last book splurge I went on was for two books...VBA Developer's Handbook, which I haven't yet started and Transact-SQL, which is very good and I'm having fun trying out new stuff I knew could be done but didn't know how.

I just picked up Orwell's 1984 and Wells' The First Men in the Moon for 25 cents each at the library's used book store. A couple of weeks ago I got The Princess Bride and The Hobbit the same way. I do practically all of my book buying at the library now. The last book I bought at a store was the Half-Blood Prince, and that was quite a while ago.
