I'm helping a friend try to find a book he read as a child that he wants to buy for his son. I was published at least 25 years ago, probably longer. He thought it was called The Great Escape or something similar. It was about a bunch of baby alligators or crocodiles who were brought to a big city (maybe NYC) and were being raised as pets, but when they got too big they were dumped into the sewer, then they had to "escape" from the sewer. He said it was an illustrated book, with very elaborate pictures and a paragraph or so of text on each page.
Have any of you heard of this book? Do you have any suggestions as to how to find it?

It looks like it's out of print. Half.com, and e-bay have none. Barnes & Noble has a couple of used ones the cheapest being $58. Amazon.com also has a few used but their cheapest one is $75.

Alibris has one copy at $59. And it's beat up.
Looks like you're going to have to find it at a used book store or else it's gonna be really expensive.
