VFW motorcycles drown out protestors

God spoke with the roar of revving motorcycle engines during a protest Tuesday by six members of a Kansas church that believes God is punishing the U.S. for protecting homosexuals by killing soldiers overseas.

Chelsea residents, however, believed God spoke on their behalf as the engines of more than 100 Veterans of Foreign Wars motorcycles drowned out the voices of the Westboro Baptist Church members who were allowed to protest from 1-1:30 p.m. before the 2 p.m. funeral services for Staff Sgt. John Glen Doles.

This cheered me immensely. Maybe a group of people will start following Rev Fred around just to drown him out...

Off topic:

I rather like the group, 'Bikers Against Child Abuse.'

quote:
BACA Mission Statement
Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children. We exist as a body of Bikers to empower children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live. We stand ready to lend support to our wounded friends by involving them with an established, united organization. We work in conjunction with local and state officials who are already in place to protect children. We desire to send a clear message to all involved with the abused child that this child is part of our organization, and that we are prepared to lend our physical and emotional support to them by affiliation, and our physical presence. We stand at the ready to shield these children from further abuse. We do not condone the use of violence or physical force in any manner, however, if circumstances arise such that we are the only obstacle preventing a child from further abuse, we stand ready to be that obstacle.

Heck yes.

Edit: Their intervention levels make me feel all warm and squishy inside.

I really wanted to post this yesterday, but refrained. Thanks, Chris. I'm really proud of these guys (the motorcyclists) and I know some of them. They are mostly from around here.

I'm hoping this will continue to happen (as the families request) until Phelps' troop will finally give up. I hear it was quite a site...

That's awesome! And who says bikers are stupid and aggressive?

You know what they should do? They should truck in mud and water, plop it down on the road, and have the bikers ride back and forth, back and forth, right in front of Phelps & gang [Smile]

No, that could be construed as assault. I think this worked just fine, freedom of speech was preserved and everyone got to have their say. Plus the visuals the story conjures up are great. [Smile]
