A lot of times when I walk by a theater and read the movie posters, I see blurbs by critics, often with ellipses, that just sound kind of weird, and I have fun wondering what the critic really said and just how badly out of context the quote was taken.
So I thought it would be fun to look for severely negative reviews of movies, books, or TV shows and take quotations from them out of context to try to give the opposite impression.
Here's a review of Serenity I found at Rotten Tomatoes:
quote: Watching SERENITY . . . made me appreciate the wisdom of . . . the show!
quote: Fans of Joss Whedon's cancelled TV show "Firefly," upon which this movie is based, are certain to love it!
I took the liberty of capitalizing all sentences and ending with exclamation points. Movie poster blurbs always end in exclamation points, and I somehoe doubt that the original newspaper reviews were full of them.
So, what Movie Poster Blurbs (or Book Jacket Blurbs) can you come up with?
(Use a different article, though.)
